I didn't know the Habs had an ECHL team. Why else would they have just signed Marc Denis?
The Leafs have signed Dominic Moore and John Mitchell to one-year contracts, and they signed Greg Scott to a three-year entry-level deal. Scott is an undrafted 20 year old who had a point per game in the WHL, but should just beef up the Marlies for now.
The Coyotes have signed David Hale.
Steve Zipay: Swedish left wing Markus Naslund, who played in Vancouver for 12 years is the newest Ranger, inking a one year, $4.5-million deal. They also added defenseman Dmitri Kalinin from Buffalo
Steve Zipay of Newsday has noted in his blog that the Rangers have called a press conference for 4:30. Possibly for a Naslund announcement (one-year deal)
The Avs have signed Daniel Tjarnqvist, bringing him back from the RSL. While he's an okay depth fantasy player in spurts, consistently he won't be of help to your team.
The Habs have signed Georges Laraque to a contract. His PIM's will go up I'm sure, as the Habs will probably lean on him a little more than the Pens did.
From the Calgary Sun: GM Darryl Sutter said forward prospect Daniel Ryder will re-join the organization and attend the summer camp later this month. Ryder spent a couple of weeks with the AHL club and walked out on the team, saying he needed to contemplate his future. Thanks to Torture in the forum for planting the seed so I could look around for a source. Ryder, a former Top 50 guy in my fantasy prospects list, rockets back up my list and into the Top 80 for the next update. He is currently at 163.
The Penguins have signed Miroslav Satan and Ruslan Fedotenko to one year deals. Analysis to come…
The Pens have also re-signed MA Fleury to a seven-year, $35 million contract. Good for both sides – they are locking in their core.
Toronto made a great deal in acquiring Mikhail Grabovski for Greg Pateryn and a 2010 2nd rounder. Analysis is up…
Washington inked Keith Aucoin to a two-year contract. Unsure if it's one-way or two-way, but I think he'll spend a lot of time in Hershey this year.
The Habs signed depth rearguard Alex Henry to a one-year deal.
Among four minor leaguers that the Stars just signed, are Landon Wilson and Garrett Stafford.
Chicago rearguard James Wisniewski tore his ACL and will undergo surgery. He is gone until at least mid-November and possibly after Christmas.
The Coyotes have signed Drew Fata to a contract. With Boynton and Ballard gone, he'll get a look and could be a PIM dark horse, but I doubt he'll make the team as a regular.
The Islanders signed Yann Danis to a two-year contract. I think he's a better goaltender than Joey McDonald so he could steal the backup role.
The Ducks have signed free agent 6-4 defenseman Stu Bickel to a three-year entry-level deal. He probably won't get on the big club this year, but expect big PIMs in the long term.
The Canucks signed minor league players Alexandre Bolduc, c, and Nolan Baumgartner, D. Neither will ever be a fantasy factor.
The Blue Jackets have signed Kristian Huselius for four years at $4.75 per year. Analysis is up…
The Islanders have signed Doug Weight to a one-year deal that is heavily incentive laden. I think the Isles will be looking for deals again this summer, just like last summer. They blew their brains out on a rearguard last year (Sutton) and this year (Streit) and then they go for the deals last year (Comrie, Vasicek, Fedotenko, Guerin) and this year (Weight, Bertuzzi?? just a guess, Nagy?? just a guess, Miettinen?? just a guess, Morrison?? just a guess, Stumpel??). I always try to find patterns with the way things are done in hockey. Or anything, for that matter.
