Craig Rivet has been traded to the Sabres for picks. This hurts his fantasy value, which was marginal as it was…

Angus here. According to CKNW 980 in Vancouver, the Canucks are preparing an offer sheet for Valtteri Filppula. They would have to offer at least $4 million to get Detroit worried.

Vancouver has acquired Steve Bernier from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a second round draft pick in 2010 and a third round pick in 2009. Analysis to come…

The Leafs signed defensive rearguard Jonas Frögren. He's reportedly a good man in the dressing room and plays a safe game.

TSN is reporting that Dan Boyle and Brad Lukowich have been traded to San Jose for Matt Carle and a first rounder. Analysis to come…

Jaromir Jagr has signed a contract with Omsk of the KHL. It is unknown at this time if he has an escape clause for the NHL, but I would imagine so. Stay tuned. Some of you may have lost Jagr in your keeper leagues… for nothing. A poolie's worst nightmare.

Newsday Rangers beatwriter Steve Zipay is reporting that Jagr is for sure not returning to New York. He also says Paul Mara has an offer on the table to remain in New York. They would then have Redden, Rozsival, Staal, Girardi, Kalinin and Mara as their top six.

Josef Vasicek has signed with Lokomotif of the KHL.

Matt Ellison has signed with the same KHL team that Marcel Hossa signed with yesterday.

In a weird signing – the Devils put pen to paper with Fedor Fedorov. Remember him? Lots of talent and lots of laziness. Can Sutter get effort out of him? Very intriguing. Was I wrong to have removed him from my FP List?

After a big season in the Finnish League, diminutive forward Dwight Helminen has signed a contract with Carolina. Their top six is already set, so I doubt he will make the team. The 25-year-old was drafted by Edmonton in 2002.

The Islanders made a pair of signings of players who have not really had a chance in the NHL, but perhaps should have. Defenseman Brett Skinner had 47 points in 68 AHL games in Boston's system. He is ranked 315 on my Fantasy Prospects List. Mike Iggulden, recently from San Jose's system, is ranked 215. He has the potential to play on the second line.

Marcel Hossa has signed to play in the KHL.

Philly prospect Stefan Ruzicka has signed to play in the KHL. He was ranked 80th on the FP List, but plummets with this news.

Antii Miettinen has signed with the Wild. I do not anticipate more than 40 points out of him there.

The Sharks have signed Rob Blake to a one-year contract. Blake will be a great mentor for Matt Carle, but his 40-point days are behind him. However, this should boost Matt Carle's chances of bouncing back this season.

Some minor signings: The 'Yotes signed Brian McGrattan (you know what you're getting) and Matt Jones. The Blues signed Yan Stastny.

The Panthers signed goalie Chris Beckford-Tseu, who will be their No. 3 goalie. They also signed Rory Fitzpatrick, Steve MacIntyre and James DeLory.
