Nikolai Kulemin and Pavel Kubina of the Leafs are both out for 7-10 days with knee injuries.
Montreal CUTS: Ben Maxwell, Greg Stewart and Matt D'Agostini. Still with the team: Yannick Weber and Max Pacioretty.
SPECTOR speculates about the possibility of the Hawks loaning Khabibulin to the KHL.
Steve Downie strained his knee in the second period last night and did not return. Early indications are that it is not very serious, but he could be out for two weeks.
Former Cap Steve Eminger helped the Flyers win with excellent special teams play. He also had an assist.
The AJC is reporting that Zach Bogosian has probably made the team because they would like him to learn from and work with Mathieu Schneider.
Derrick Brassard will miss tonight's contest because of the flu. Malhotra will take his spot on the top line.
As mentioned yesterday afternoon, Nikita Filatov – ranked second on my Fantasy Prospects List – will make his NHL preseason debut tonight with Peca and Andrew Murray.
Rene Bourque left last night's contest with a leg injury. This is of fantasy significance only in that it frees up more ice time on a scoring line for the likes of either Dustin Boyd or Curtis Glencross, who do have sleeper value.
Glencross, by the way, played nearly 5 minutes on the PP last night and assisted on the only goal. Boyd played 6:51 of PP time.
Zdeno Chara returned to action having recovered from shoulder surgery. He played over 27 minutes and is back to his old self.
The Flyers signed dman Luca Sbisa to an entry-level deal. He was their top pick of this past draft and is still with the club in camp.
The Flyers also released Maxime Ouellet, thanks to Niittymaki's projected early return from injury.
TJ Hensick had two points last night for the Avs.
