The Kings are still $9.4 million below the salary floor with Patrick O'Sullivan and Brad Richardson left to sign. Assuming they both sign for $5 million per season – which is on the high side – they still need to do a move to add $4.5 to $5.5 million to the payroll. That is why adding Mathieu Schneider to the team would make sense. That would hurt Peter Harrold's outlook for the coming season.
Those of you wondering about Bobby Allen's lack of UFA talk, he is still sidelined with two herniated discs and will not be ready to start the season.
Interesting note in the Boston Globe about Phil Kessel – despite his base salary, he carries a cap hit of over $2 million and the Bruins are pressed against the cap. He can be sent to the minors without clearing waivers – unless he plays three NHL games. He's on the team, don't question that, but I just found that interesting. Peter Schaefer is the guy most likely to be sent down if push comes to shove.
Tomorrow, 5:40 pm, Bill Watters Show on AM640 – Dobber talks some fantasy hockey, be sure to listen in.
