Aaron Portzline is reporting in his blog that Filatov skated by himself today, and will do so again tomorrow and Saturday. Sunday he will practice with the team.
Minnesota cuts: Cody Almond, Carson McMillan,Justin Hodgman, Frederic St. Denis and Tyler Schmidt.
Anaheim cuts: Ajay Baines, Stu Bickel, Bobby Bolt, Ryan Dingle, Eric Regan, Matt Stefanishion, Adrian Veiderman, Eric Tangradi (notable), Stefan Warg.
Columbus cuts: Brian McGuirk, Petr Pohl, Kirill Starkov, John Vigilante, Trevor Hendrikx, Jon Landry, Dan Smith, Erik Felde, Ryan Garlock, John Hughes, Shane Willis (interesting), and Ryan Mior.
Edmonton cuts: Jordan Eberle (notable), Andrew Perugini, Sebastien Bisaillon, Josef Hrabal, Jake Taylor, Cody Wild, Bryan Young, Hans Benson, Justin Chwedoruk, Garet Hunt, Bryan Lerg, Colin McDonald, Sean McMorrow, Ryan O'Marra, Geoff Paukovich.
Nikita Filatov is expected to practice with the Blue Jackets this morning.
Mathieu Schneider has agreed to remain out of the Anaheim camp for a couple more days while GM Burke tries to sort out a trade.
Bobby Ryan had a three-point night last night.
Jason Arnott was back in practice after sitting out a couple of days with a mild groin strain.
Florida coach Peter DeBoer used Nathan Horton on the penalty kill last night.
Richard Zednik played 17:04 in his first game action since his neck injury. He played over seven minutes on the power play.
Florida line combos: Horton with Zednik and Stillman. Matthias with Peltonen and Mcardle. Meyer with Sprukts and Glass.
Despite the fact that the Oilers still see Gilbert Brule as a top center of the future, they are considering sending him to the AHL this year to regain his confidence. That would open up a spot for Rob Schremp, who played a strong game last night including an assist. Keep an eye on this situation, I'm inclined to agree with their analysis of Brule.
Edmonton line combos: Horcoff with Hemsky and Cole. Schremp with Reddox and Lefebvre. Moreau with Penner and Pisani.
Max Mayorov is said to be struggling a little with the North American game. Look for him to be cut soon and debut in the AHL.
Jonathan Bernier has a leg injury and the Kings are being cautious with him by sitting him out. This means that he will almost certainly start the year in Manchester.
Alexander Frolov joins Kovalev and Crosby as a player who is sitting out to rest his groin.
Drew Doughty was a plus-2 last night, making a strong bid to make the Kings.
Colorado line combos: Stastny with Hejduk and Smyth. Sakic with Tucker and Stewart.
The Kings were playing Matt Moulson with Kopitar and Brown. It's obviously too early in the preseason to start taking line combos seriously.
Under the new coach, Christian Ehrhoff played less than six other defensemen last night, and was a minus-2.
Per Ledin is making a strong case to make the Avs this season. He'll give you 30 points and lots of penalty minutes, so keep an eye on him.
Tomas Fleischmann scored twice for the Caps last night. He needs to get onto a scoring line this year or he'll never pan out as a valuable fantasy player.
Troy Brouwer is having a strong camp for the Blackhawks and could crack the lineup. He has put up big AHL numbers the last two years and brings excellent size to their forward group. The Chicago Daily Herald is already quoting Savard as hinting he could see time with Kane. Brouwer ranks 141 on my fantasy prospects list.
Nik Lidstrom left last night's contest after getting hit in the face by a puck. It required stitches, but will probably not cause him to miss any action.
Give Petr Nedved two more points in his comeback bid. It's starting to look like he could crack this squad, but I'll give it another game before I judge (and add him to my Fantasy Guide).
The Sharks signed Doug Murray to a four-year contract extension.
