Detroit also signed to entry level deals forward Brent Raedeke and d-man Brian Lashoff.
Florida CUTS: Michal Repik, Janis Sprukts, Kenndal McArdle, Mike Duco, David Brine, Chris Beckford-Tseu
Philadelphia CUTS: Oskars Bartulis, Tim Ramholt, Mike Ratchuk, Rob Bellamy, Frederik Cabana, Matt Clackson, Garrett Klotz, David Laliberte, Ned Lukacevic, Patrick Maroon, Jon Matsumoto, Nate Raduns, Jeremy Duchesne, Tim Branham, Brad Brown, Igor Karlov, Mike Kaye, Dennis Packard and Mike Hoffman.

Jeff Woywitka has a broken foot and will be out until the end of October. It is too bad, because he was a good bet to finally play the full season in the NHL. Now, others have the opportunity to steal his spot.

The Panthers lost Steve MacIntyre on waivers. The Oilers scooped up the big defenseman, who could be a good PIM option if he can get into games.

My apologies – the site was down for about 20 minutes this afternoon. Too popular, I guess so I won't complain!

My apologies Pt. 2 – I had updated the guide last night…but failed to upload the new document. Dumb of me. Anyway, the Sept. 30th version is uploaded now 18 hours later.

The Canucks have named Roberto Luongo team captain. It is allowed under league rules as long as there is a designated assistant to deal with the refs (Mitchell). Luongo is the first goaltender to serve as captain since the 1940's.

Jeff O'Neill has decided to end his comeback bid with the Hurricanes. The team has released him from camp.

Paul Gaustad had surgery on his thumb and will be out until November. He is a certified, full-fledged, Band-Aid Boy. If it's not one thing, it's another with him.

The Jackets hope to get Filatov into a game Thursday or Friday. As I rambled yesterday, I think they'll keep him up for a nine-game trial in the season.

Christian Backman led all Columbus rearguards in PP time last night. Seems silly, but he played 6:35 and Kris Russell played 5:36. Tyutin and Klesla each played about 3:50 and had three points each. I would think that Tyutin and Russell are the top two QBs.

Tomorrow Marek Svatos will get into his first game since March. He has been recovering from knee surgery.

Mikkel Boedker scored two goals last night, helping his bid to make the Coyotes.

Pavel Datsyuk's groin injury is starting to become concerning. He has not played since the start of the preseason and these injuries tend to linger.

ME Vlasic was a minus-4 in last night's loss to the Coyotes.

Philippe Boucher is hoping to get back into practice by the end of the week. He has a toe injury.

CUTS
Lots of cuts posted here late yesterday afternoon, be sure to check them out. The Fantasy Guide has been updated.
San Jose: Joe Rullier, Ryan Vesce, Cory Larose, Patrick Traverse, Matt Kinch, Brendan Buckley, Taylor Dakers
Toronto: Kyle Rogers, Christopher Didomenico, Ben Ondrus, Kris Newbury, Alex Foster, Andre Deveaux, Bates Battaglia, Jaime Sifers, Josef Boumedienne.

Raffi Torres separated his shoulder and will be out of the Blue Jackets line-up for the next six weeks. This opens up a roster spot for either Tom Sestito or Derek Dorsett. Dorsett will one day be a great option in PIM leagues, the guy is all sandpaper.

It looks like the Kings will be naming Dustin Brown as team captain, but the reports haven't been confirmed yet. Not sure how this impacts his fantasy value, but it is a change of pace from the veteran presence of Rob Blake the past few seasons.

Keep an eye on Jordin Tootoo this season. The Predators are incredibly thin on the right side, and he could skate with Erat/Legwand on the second unit. Patric Hornqvist is already being pencilled in on the top line with Dumont/Arnott, so his name has to be mentioned in Calder talks.

(Status Here- After much drama on that hockey article I wrote last week, come teach me a lesson in the other sport… check out the DobberBaseball Playoff Pool HERE)
