The Fantasy Guide and Draft List are both updated to 5pm October 2nd (today).

Andrew Hutchinson was a "big disappointment" according to the St. Petersburg Times. He has been placed on waivers, and has apparently cleared them. His contract is one-way, so TB will still be paying him a million bucks.

The Flyers have cut Claude Giroux. The writing was on the wall for that one.

Flyers CUTS: Sean Curry, Claude Giroux, Nate Guenin, Jon Kalinski, Boyd Kane and Jared Ross

Henrik Lundqvist is expected to get the start for both games against Tampa.

Vancouver CUTS: Cory Schneider, Alex Bolduc, Shaun Heshka

Breaking news: The Lighting have reassigned Michel Ouellet to Norfolk of the AHL.

The Isles have signed Josh Bailey to a three-year entry-level contract. He is ranked 109 on my prospects list, but moves up with this news. It's his birthday, so that's a nice gift.

Carolina CUTS: Justin Peters and Daniel Manzato.

The Pens have to cut one more skater by Friday. This is big for those who took a chance on Pesonen.

Cuts are getting bigger…

Boston CUTS: Matt Lashoff, Martin St. Pierre, Jeff Penner and Tuuka Rask. St. Pierre must clear waivers.

Ducks CUT: Joakim Lindstrom, Drew Miller, TJ Trevelyan, Troy Bodie, Brennan Evans, Josh Green, David LeNeveu

The Band-Aid Boys page has been updated. Long overdue…

Nikolai Kulemin and Pavel Kubina of the Leafs are both out for 7-10 days with knee injuries.

Montreal CUTS: Ben Maxwell, Greg Stewart and Matt D'Agostini. Still with the team: Yannick Weber and Max Pacioretty.

SPECTOR speculates about the possibility of the Hawks loaning Khabibulin to the KHL.

Steve Downie strained his knee in the second period last night and did not return. Early indications are that it is not very serious, but he could be out for two weeks.

Former Cap Steve Eminger helped the Flyers win with excellent special teams play. He also had an assist.

The AJC is reporting that Zach Bogosian has probably made the team because they would like him to learn from and work with Mathieu Schneider.

Derrick Brassard will miss tonight's contest because of the flu. Malhotra will take his spot on the top line.

As mentioned yesterday afternoon, Nikita Filatov – ranked second on my Fantasy Prospects List – will make his NHL preseason debut tonight with Peca and Andrew Murray.

Rene Bourque left last night's contest with a leg injury. This is of fantasy significance only in that it frees up more ice time on a scoring line for the likes of either Dustin Boyd or Curtis Glencross, who do have sleeper value.

Glencross, by the way, played nearly 5 minutes on the PP last night and assisted on the only goal. Boyd played 6:51 of PP time.

Zdeno Chara returned to action having recovered from shoulder surgery. He played over 27 minutes and is back to his old self.

The Flyers signed dman Luca Sbisa to an entry-level deal. He was their top pick of this past draft and is still with the club in camp.

The Flyers also released Maxime Ouellet, thanks to Niittymaki's projected early return from injury.

TJ Hensick had two points last night for the Avs.

CUTS

As usual, check yesterday for late posted cuts beyond the below.
Columbus: Maxim Mayorov
Los Angeles: Andrei Loktionov
New Jersey: Fedor Fedorov
NY Rangers: Antoine Lafleur, Evgeny Grachev
Phoenix: Alex Bourret, MIke Zigomanis, Ryan Lannon
Vancouver: Mark Cullen, Jason Jaffray, Jim Sharrow, Dan Gendur

The soon-to-be checking line Vancouver skated circles around the Flames tonight. Ryan Kesler and Alex Burrows both had three assists, and Jannik Hansen had two goals. Kesler could hit 50 points as his offensive skills continue to emerge.

Mason Raymond and Pavol Demitra are also clicking on the second line in Vancouver. Demitra is good for a point a game (he usually gets hurt), while Raymond is a sleeper for 55 points.

Josh Harding took a stick to the eye in a scary incident tonight. He was diagnosed with a right eye abrasion, whatever that means.

Brandon Dubinsky has been very impressive for the Rangers. He is centering the second line with Dawes and Zherdev right now.

There are rumors that Boston is shopping Marc Savard to clear some roster space for David Krejci and Blake Wheeler. Savard has a lot of trade value, so the Bruins would want a top pairing defenseman back.

Derrick Brassard is NOT suffering from a concussion according to the Blue Jackets, but a stiff neck. Lets hope…

Elizabeth and Lewis reunite to bring you all the latest fantasy news and strategy, such as how our siblings would fare if called on to fill our roles like Owen Sillinger did for bro Cole. Injuries and outjuries include a pair of goalies returning to their teams in Ingram and Shesterkin, as well as how Monahan’s wrist injury opens the door for big minutes for Fantilli. Finally, the pair touch on Voronkov and PLD’s hot streaks, and discuss John Carlson’s rollercoaster in light of Chychrun’s production.

Keeping Karlsson: Tuch Hunch

On this edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast mega-show, Elan and Brian tour every team, ranking a slate of the least bad goalies, noticing the wind in some Red Wings’ and Stars’ sails, dangling snoozer status above a pair of commonly rostered power-play quarterbacks, and rushing or strolling, accordingly, to some skaters on the up and up.
