TJ Oshie played 11:05 in his return to the lineup last night and saw second-line ice time. His injury has made him fall behind Berglund in terms of responsibilities for the Blues, but given time he will catch up again – and probably surpass.
The Oilers have recalled Gilbert Brule. With Sam Gagner doubtful (head injury) Brule will join Schremp on the newly formed kid line.
The Sabres have recalled Nate Gerbe. He has 14 goals and 24 points in 21 contests. He is ninth in AHL scoring and first among rookies and is ranked 48th on my prospects list. Talent-wise, he is Top 5, but his size holds him down to 48th – it all depends on the opportunity he is given.
With Mat Schneider out with a shoulder injury and Zach Bogosian back skating for over a week now, I can't help but wonder if the youngster will play today. Perhaps I'm trigger happy after that Justin Williams surprise I got Thursday.
Chris Stewart played 7:29 is his first career NHL game last night. Ranked 101 on my fantasy prospects list, Stewart is still a season away from full-time duty and is right on schedule for that. Given his 'power forward' style, he will probably be a good five years before he starts posting 60-plus points a season.
Olli Jokinen is targetting a return for Wednesday, which could mean Hanzal's hot run is over.
Update on Kyle Okposos's wrist – his sprain is quite severe and Newsday reports he is in a cast. He will be out for at least a month.
