Steve Sullivan will (probably) return to the Nashville lineup on SATURDAY. He has not played in over 22 months.
Sweeping changes made by PIT coach Michel Therrien resulted in… one of their worst games of the season. Here are the failing moves that Therrien made: Goligoski was a healthy scratch. Gill was a healthy scratch. Miroslav Satan was demoted to the fourth line and given nine minutes of ice time. Petr Sykora was benched for most of the second period. The team lost 4-0. Letang saw 6:41 on the PP but wound up pointless and a minus-2.
Meanwhile, Nigel Dawes continued his hot run, picking up two more points. That gives him eight in eight games.
The Flyers recalled Andreas Nodl. They also called up goalie Scott Munroe. Antero Niitymaki suffered a groin injury and will probably miss tonight's game. Nodl replaces Giroux in the lineup, because Giroux's concussion will keep him out of the lineup for several games in all likelihood.
Simon Gagne is still day-to-day, but is doubtful for tonight's match. There was no tear in his shoulder.
Daniel Briere is targeting Thursday for his return to the lineup.
In a surprise move, the Canucks sent Jannik Hansen to the AHL. This clears up room for Mats Sundin to get into the lineup tomorrow night.
As I'm browsing the papers I read an interesting article in the Vancouver Sun (of which I write for – every Tuesday in the sports section). I guess the players have a problem telling the Sedin twins apart, occasionally resulting in two players jumping onto the ice when one of the twins come off. Kyle Wellwood did this on the weekend, hopping on the ice when Daniel Sedin came off – except Wellwood was to replace Henrik. Kind of funny and interesting…
Andy McDonald is targeting Friday to return to game action. He has been cleared to practice now.
