The Blues have waived Manny Legace, as a result of Mason's recent play. I know everyone is thinking "grab Mason", but I'm actually thinking – get ready to grab Legace. There are some desperate teams out there ready to give him 30 starts going forward.

The Post is reporting that Glen Sather will speak with Dallas Stars exec Les Jackson today about the possibility of acquiring the suspended Sean Avery

From El-Bashir's WAS blog : Brooks Laich and Viktor Kozlov are not practicing. Laich is day-to-day with a lower leg contusion after taking a shot off the calf in the second period of last night's 5-4 loss to Los Angeles.

I have the Big Daddy of all announcements later today or Monday. Those of you in the Toronto area will love this one.

I was just directed to a very thorough and well-put- together list of the top 100 FANTASY goalies of the past two decades. You should take a look, some very interesting stuff from blogger Chris Boyle.

Eric Staal left last night's game in the second with a lower body injury. The injury is apparently not serious, as Staal wanted to return for the third but the team wanted to be cautious.

Backes and Oshie were back in the lineup last night and combined for over 38 minutes in ice time, so clearly they are fine.

Patrik Berglund left last night's contest in the third with a groin injury.

After four days off the ice, Andy McDonald was back skating and he looked and felt great. From the sounds of it, he could be in the lineup within a week.

Chris Mason is 4-1-1 with a 1.30 goals-against average in his last six games. He has stopped 82 of 84 shots in his last three games.

It's funny – Seabrook, Barker, Campbell and Keith all combined for zero points last night, but Matt Walker managed three assists. Give him seven points on the season – but four in his last two games.
Bent Johnson needs to have hip surgery that will take him out of the lineup until the end of March. If Sergei Varlamov's knee injury heals, he will be the backup. Until then, Michal Neuvirth will be. The Caps may address this via a trade or waivers – that may end up clouding their goaltending picture for next year, depending on the contract that comes with the goalie they get.

Michael Ryder took a stick to the nose and required stitches last night. He was also feeling dizzy and left the game.

Owen Nolan (back) will not be in the lineup against NSH

The following Rangers have the flu, according to Blue Notes: Lundqvist, Mara, Kalinin, Valiquette

Dan Boyle was back in the lineup last night and played 30 minutes. He was pointless with six shots.

Mark Streit's UBI kept him out of the Isles lineup last night – the team is tight-lipped about this, saying he may or may not play tomorrow. Helpful, I know. Jack Hillen was in the lineup in his place, but for some reason they won't give Hillen PP time.

Andrew Ebbett stayed in the Ducks lineup even though Brendan Morrison returned. He may not stick next game though, due to his minus-2. Rob Niedermayer's undisclosed injury kept Ebbett in.

Anaheim line combos: Getlaf, Perry, Kunitz of course; Morrison, Marchant and Moen the MMM line; Ebbett with Ryan and Selanne; Carter with Miller and recently acquired Mike Brown.
