Things are looking bleak in Anaheim right now, but Ebbett has been impressive on the second line with Ryan and Selanne.
Currently has 16 points through 27 games. Cheap, which is a huge bonus because the Ducks need to use remaining cap space on defensemen next season with Beauchemin more than likely moving on, and Niedermayer hitting free agency.
The Thrashers traded Mat Schneider to the Habs for second and third round picks. Schneider, if healthy, will boost the MTL power play and his value definitely increases. Be cautious, though – he gets hurt often. The Thrashers were great to shed his salary and get two nice picks.
Three points last night give Claude Giroux six in his last five games.
The promotion of Dan Bylsma to interim head coach of the Penguins is very promising for owners of PIT players. Any coaching change is promising, actually, but this is more so. Wilkes/Barre-Scranton is the second highest scoring team in the AHL, which speaks volumes to their style of play. We also may see some line combo stability. Therrien drove poolies nuts with his constant tinkering and juggling. Bylsma has also seen what Caputi, Thomas and Pesonen can do – so whenever they are on the NHL roster they should be used more effectively.
Justin Williams took a Babchuk shot off the arm last night and did not return.
Paul Stastny is probably going to return to the lineup by this weekend. While tomorrow is possible, I would think you can rule that out but pencil him in for Friday.
The Kings have sent Oscar Moller to Manchester for conditioning.
Fredrik Modin will be out for a couple of weeks with a sprained knee. The Jackets have no plans to recall anyone at the moment (i.e. Filatov).
Eric Fehr has six goals in seven games – but Mike Green's record run has come to an end.
ATL line combos in practice (Peverley moved to wing now): White, with Kovy and Little; Reasoner with Kozlov and Peverley
Mike Richards became the first player in NHL history to score three career three-on-five shorthanded goals.
Poolies were so certain that Niittymaki stole the No.1 job. So fickle. All it took was the flu and suddenly Biron starts back-to-back games and stops 73 of 76 shots. Biron is the No.1 goalie.
There is buzz in New York about Tom Renney getting fired soon. The next two games are key.
