Fantasy Hockey Ramble – March 25, 2009

Dobber Sports

2009-03-25

Angus here. Marian Gaborik sure didn't wait long to settle in to the lineup. He had a goal in his first game back, and two goals (along with two helpers) tonight against the Isles.

Paul Stastny is out for the season with a broken bone in his foot.

As a result of Frolov's injury, Michal Handzus seems to be the biggest beneficiary. Moved to the wing, Handzus played with Kopitar and Williams. Purcell dropped down and took Frolov's spot with Stoll and Brown.

Patric Hornqvist is pointless in the three games since he was called up. He is still not seeing any power-play time.

Bobby Ryan has hit a bit of a wall, with just 12 points in his last 21 contests.

Since his 8-6-1 start, Jose Theodore is 20-10-4. He's also knocked his GAA from 3.25 to 2.79, and his SP has risen from .883 to .902.

Huge announcement forthcoming – the big daddy of them all. This is the feature that I alluded to in the Midseason Guide. Within the next 1-20 days you will see – it will knock you off your chair. When you see this new feature, you'll take your league's trophy over to the engravers and just go ahead and engrave your name beside 2009-10.

Give Mikhail Grabovski 10 points in his last five games.

Aaron Portzline is reporting in his Blog that highly-touted prospect Tyler Bozak is considering signing with the Blue Jackets. I think it would be a good fit for him, although it would likely mean he would not have an immediate impact. We'll hear more from Portzline later today on Dobber Nation.

Alex Tanguay had a five-point game yesterday. Him finding his timing is great news for Habs fans (and Tanguay owners).

MIN line combos with Gaborik (who scored last night) in and Koivu out: Belanger with Gaborik and Brunette; Sheppard with Nolan and Bouchard; Olvecky with Miettinen and Gillies. Clearly, Belanger is the winner and Miettinen is the loser here.

Matt Cullen will miss the next two games according to Chip Alexander. Scott Walker could be back in the 'Canes lineup this week though.

Todd Bertuzzi skated with the Flames on the weekend and could be back in the lineup tonight.

Dobber Nation with Andrew Walker – out THIS AFTERNOON – will feature Matt Bugg, Greg "Puck Daddy" Wyshynski, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch and prospect Landon Ferraro.

If your business would like to advertize on this great radio program with consistently great guests (past guests include Kris Versteeg, ESPN's John Buccigross, Randy Moller, THN's Ed Fraser, Spector's Lyle Richardson, etc), email Rob at [email protected]

Keeping Karlsson Short Shifts – Thanks for Vejmelkmories

Elizabeth and Lewis reunite to bring you all the latest fantasy news and strategy, such as how our siblings would fare if called on to fill our roles like Owen Sillinger did for bro Cole. Then it’s onto news including coverage of the postponed CGY/LAK game and defensive injuries piling up in MIN and putting some strain on Gustavsson’s performance. Injuries and outjuries include a pair of goalies returning to their teams in Ingram and Shesterkin, as well as how Monahan’s wrist injury opens the door for big minutes for Fantilli. Finally, the pair touch on Voronkov and PLD’s hot streaks, and discuss John Carlson’s rollercoaster in light of Chychrun’s production.

Keeping Karlsson: Tuch Hunch

On this edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast mega-show, Elan and Brian tour every team, ranking a slate of the least bad goalies, noticing the wind in some Red Wings’ and Stars’ sails, dangling snoozer status above a pair of commonly rostered power-play quarterbacks, and rushing or strolling, accordingly, to some skaters on the up and up.
