Tyler Myers Signs – Ramble – May 12, 2009

Petr Sykora continues to be a healthy scratch, although given the fact that the team finally lost last night, he may replace Satan. Satan has been playing well though.

The Sabres signed prospect Tyler Myers to an entry-level deal. He is ranked 278 on my prospects list, which is 20th among prospect defensemen. He is profiled extensively in the upcoming Prospects Report , as advertised in The Hockey News. The DobberHockey Fantasy Prospects Report will be in your Downloads section (assuming you ordered) on June 1 – less than three weeks from now!

The Avs signed prospects Cam Gaunce and Trevor Cann. The latter is a goaltender who had a so-so year with London. The former is ranked 526 on my prospects list, which is around 50th among defensemen.

The Lightning have signed Rick Tocchet to be their head coach. His record with the team wasn't much better than Barry Melrose's. What the team needs to do to succeed is to build slowly and let chemistry form on its own instead of trying to jam that square peg into round holes.

Cody Hodgson's Brampton team did not make the Memorial Cup, and Manitoba is still going in the Calder Cup playoffs, so he was assigned to Manitoba. He is ranked the 4th best prospect to own in fantasy leagues.

Luongo never faced more than 31 shots in the series, and yet he allowed three or more goals four times. He's 30 years old, enough's enough. Is it time to rip the "clutch goalie" label off his shirt?

Khabibulin, despite the final W, didn't fare much better. His SP is 0.896 for the postseason. The Hawks have been surprisingly effective in keeping the shots against down (about 26 per game in the postseason).

Mike Modano has announced that he will be back for a 20th season. Regardless – his 55-point days are done.

Brian Rafalski hopes to be back in the Detroit lineup tonight to finish off the Ducks. He has yet to play in this round. Kris Draper will remain out.

My article in today's Hockey News will analyze the World Championship and what fantasy owners can take from it. The article should be up on thn.com at around 1pm.
