Dany Heatley – Still Not Waiving NMC

By |2009-06-30T22:50:46-04:00June 30th, 2009|Fantasy Take - Latest NHL Moves|

Heatley and Spezza

*Pending Dany Heatley waiving his no-trade clause*

*UPDATE - Heatley is still not waiving his no-movement clause and now Ottawa is on the hook for a $4 million bonus. Unless they can make up this bonus in the trade with the Oilers AND Heatley comes around, this deal will die. But BOTH teams had agreed to this deal. Full store HERE .*

Assuming that Heatley waives his NMC (which he has not, see above note), a trade agreement has been reached with the Oilers for Andrew Cogliano, Dustin Penner and Ladislav Smid.

NHL Free Agency Begins! July 1, 2009

By |2009-06-30T19:01:39-04:00June 30th, 2009|Hockey Rambling|

Dany Heatley will reportedly not make a decision before midnight tonight, further hurting the Senators. I have reserved judgment on this until this point, but...show some mercy Dany! Other minor signings - MTL signs Mathieu Darche, Ottawa signs Mike Brodeur for goaltending depth.  Here's an interesting one - Martin St. Pierre signs with Ottawa. I've always [...]

Did You Qualify? June 30, 2009

By |2009-06-30T09:55:59-04:00June 30th, 2009|Hockey Rambling|

My monthly keeper league player rankings will be postponed until the dust settles. Likely Friday.  They did it. The Flames signed Bouwmeester to a five-year deal worth $33 million. Analysis to come.  Phoenix did not qualify Joakim Lindstrom. He will become a UFA. Looks as though the arrival of Dawes, Prucha and Upshall spelt doom [...]

From Start to Finnish

Simila

Eat your heart out, Garth Snow. Just as you were a big brute between the pipes, so too shall be the goalies you draft. You surprised me by taking a huge Finnish goalie to start the second day of the NHL Entry Draft, but I was not surprised to see the day end with another hulking Finnish goaltender, Petteri Simila, being chosen at #211.

Howard to Finally Get Back Up Job, June 29, 2009

By |2009-06-29T09:48:35-04:00June 29th, 2009|Hockey Rambling|

Angus here! Haven't rambled in a while! The Devils have signed Johnny Oduya to a multi-year extension with a cap hit of $3 million. Carolina has re-signed Jussi Jokinen to a two year deal. The cap hit is a very friendly $1.75 million.  Mike Gillis flew to Sweden to negotiate with the twins. Expect them to be [...]

Guerin to Remain in Pittsburgh? June 28, 2009

By |2009-06-28T10:55:58-04:00June 28th, 2009|Hockey Rambling|

The Rangers will not qualify Freddie Sjostrom, making him a UFA on Wednesday. I told you he was no good...and some readers had actually argued the point!  The Canucks are too polite to do it publicly, but they are probably laughing at the Sedin's demands behind closed doors. Yeah right, sign them until they are [...]
