Howard to Finally Get Back Up Job, June 29, 2009

Angus here! Haven't rambled in a while!
The Devils have signed Johnny Oduya to a multi-year extension with a cap hit of $3 million.
Carolina has re-signed Jussi Jokinen to a two year deal. The cap hit is a very friendly $1.75 million.
Mike Gillis flew to Sweden to negotiate with the twins. Expect them to be back.
Look for the Wild to make a BIG splash on the open market. They will target the likes of Hossa, Havlat, and Cammalleri. They have a new regime in place and want to open up the offense. This benefits every single player on that roster. Expect BIG things from Brent Burns, who you can get below value thanks to a poor season (it doesn't help he played half of it with an undiagnosed concussion).
The St. Louis Blues have bought out d-man Jay McKee.
Great news for Jimmy Howard owners. As our goalie guru Justin Goldman talked about in the forum, the Red Wings will not be re-signing Ty Conklin and have decided to make Jimmy Howard the backup. It wouldn't shock me if he lost the backup job with poor play, but it also wouldn't shock me if he stole the starting job with strong play, given Osgood's season last year. I think he's a dark horse for 45 games, which in Detroit means close to 30 wins.
CBC has reported that Jonas Gustavsson has narrowed his team down to Toronto and Dallas.
Confirmed guests for this evening's Dobber Nation: Lyle Richards of spectorshockey and Dan Marr, Atlanta's director of scouting. Matt Bugg has turned ill, so could not be interviewed this morning. Must be the 181 pick marathon he live blogged on Saturday!
