The Capitals have signed winger Mike Knuble to a two-year deal worth $2.8 million per season.
Fantasy Impact: Although this is a great signing for the Caps, adding grit and experience, it looks like Knuble's luck continues. The man who got to play with Joe Thornton – and suddenly put up points – and then Peter Forsberg – and continue to put up points – and then Daniel Briere – and… well, you get the idea. Now he gets Nicklas Backstrom. If he clicks with Alexander Ovechkin and Backstrom, which he probably will, he will top 55 points, perhaps even 60. I want his agent to run my business!
Tomas Fleischmann and Brooks Laich will never see time on the top line now, rolling back their odds of breaking out and topping 60 points.
The Flyers now have more space for the kids. Andreas Nodl and JVR will each have a better chance of sticking now. Claude Giroux, of course, has an even better outlook.
