Anaheim Signs Saku Koivu

The Anaheim Ducks have signed Saku Koivu to a one-year deal worth $3.25 million.

Fantasy Impact: Goodbye Andrew Ebbett fantasy value. If he can somehow overcome the arrival of Koivu and pick up where he left off last April, I will a huge amount of respect for him. Because as of now, I just don’t see it. That’s a shame, because he looked like a promising 50-plus points player. Is his promise as a fantasy player completely over? I wouldn’t say that yet, but this certainly hurts.

Koivu in Anaheim – probably playing with Teemu Selanne and Joffrey Lupul – should produce in that 65-point range. It’s not a huge offensive upgrade to Ebbett, but it’s a great name and character upgrade, not to mention experience. Lupul and Selanne remain unchanged.

On a side note – what’s with Anaheim making all these moves? Don’t they understand that they are the one team I have already completed for the upcoming fantasy guide? Now I must start over! Now if Atlanta and Boston would withhold from making any moves for a couple weeks…

Finally, the pair touch on Voronkov and PLD’s hot streaks, and discuss John Carlson’s rollercoaster in light of Chychrun’s production.
