Carl Soderberg – Wrong Attitude? July 12, 2009

You may or may not be interested – Antoine Vermette was married on Saturday. Miroslav Satan’s wife had a baby girl today.

Here are some rumors floating around that are not from solid sources, so I figure half of them will come true: Sergei Zubov, Martin Gerber and Lauri Korpikoski are talking with teams in the KHL. Cory Murphy is speaking with an SEL team. Of those those, I think Korp and Zubov are the least likely.

The Habs re-signed Kyle Chipchura to a contract yesterday. He’ll be a full-timer this season and should get 30 points. In four-five years he could flirt with his upside of the high 60s.

The Sabres have signed rearguard Joe DiPenta to a one-year deal. His presence hurts the odds of Gragnani making the team, but I think Grags is another year away regardless.

The Caps have signed Boyd Kane to a two-way contract. Obviously a move to bring him back to Hershey, where he captained them to a title.

The Bruins are still looking to sign prospect Carl Soderberg. The youngster is interested in coming over to the NHL, but only if he can get a spot on the Bruins – certainly not the right attitude. However, GM Chiarelli is optimistic and with Kessel and Krejci out he does have a shot. There is a good chance that Soderberg will at least come over for training camp. Soderberg seems pretty adamant that he does not want to spend any time in the AHL. Full story here. Soderberg is ranked 126 on my prospect forwards list.

Injuries and outjuries include a pair of goalies returning to their teams in Ingram and Shesterkin, as well as how Monahan’s wrist injury opens the door for big minutes for Fantilli. Finally, the pair touch on Voronkov and PLD’s hot streaks, and discuss John Carlson’s rollercoaster in light of Chychrun’s production.

On this edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast mega-show, Elan and Brian tour every team, ranking a slate of the least bad goalies, noticing the wind in some Red Wings’ and Stars’ sails, dangling snoozer status above a pair of commonly rostered power-play quarterbacks, and rushing or strolling, accordingly, to some skaters on the up and up.
