Carolina traded Patrick Eaves to Boston for Aaron Ward. This is a small deal on the surface…but the fantasy implications could and will be huge. I’ll tell you all about it in an analysis up soon…

Our good friend Spector discusses the possibility of Satan going back to Long Island, Afinogenov going to Nashville and Shanahan returning to New Jersey here.

PIT rookie camp update – Tangradi is a giant among boys at 6-4, 221 pounds. He is practicing now, but still recovering from surgery on his thumb. In April, a skate had cut through his glove and severed the tendon in his thumb – the Post-Gazette is saying that surgeons had to make an extra incision in his wrist to find the end of the recoiled tendon and reattach it. He feels he will be 100 percent for training camp.

J.S. Aubin and Blake Sloan will play in Germany next year.

Daniel Tjarnqvist will play in the KHL next campaign.

The Flames have signed Kris Chucko to an extension. I don’t think he’ll make the team this year and his fantasy value is minimal anyway.

Brian Burke is posturing as if Tomas Kaberle will not be traded before the season starts. If that is the case, you know that the top six has to be Kaberle, Schenn, Beauchemin, Komisarek, Finger and Van Ryn. So what of Exelby? I guess they go with seven d-men. That leaves White, Stralman and Frogren (ooo Gustravsson’s not gonna like that) out in the cold. No, something has to give here, if not Kaberle than White will be moved.

Continuing on my goalie talk from yesterday – Rask will be the backup to Thomas this year, and I think next year he will start to play so well during his starts that he will eat away at Thomas’ starts. Then in 2011-12 his talent level and results will force the issue – and he and Thomas will split starts until one of them is moved.

As for Curry, I think we’ll see him this year thanks to Fleury’s proneness to injury. However, it will be just another cup of coffee. Next year he should finally be the backup and if he proves to be good enough, then the team will probably move him to a city where he can start. If not, he’ll continue to back up Fleury.

Regarding Patrick Marleau – I really wonder if he will be moved at all this summer. In May, I would have been 90% confident that a trade was imminent. Now, take me down to 40%. I don’t think a move anywhere will improve or hurt his projected point total unless it’s a team like Washington (who doesn’t need him now that they have Morrison).

Puck Daddy brought up an interesting point in Twitter last night – Chicago timed the release of their Hossa news for right after Mark Buehrle’s perfect game. So while the papers are dominated by buzz of that great feat, the Hawks can quietly announce that the guy they just signed for 12 years is damaged goods. You can follow me on Twitter by the way at Twitter.com/DobberHockey. Also, if you know who Mark Buehrle is then you would probably be interested in DobberBaseball.

Dobber Nation is out on Saturday. Confirmed guests: Calgary’s top prospect Mikael Backlund; Sportsnet’s Vancouver broadcaster Dan Murphy will talk some Canucks; Matt Bugg would (should?) finally be on to reflect on the draft that was; One other guest still to confirm. That’s SATURDAY.
