Drew Miller and a third rounder for Artyukhin. Analysis to come…
The Lighting have just sent a message via Twitter that they are making a trade today and getting a player and a draft pick in return. More to come. Brian Lawton, the GM, often is the source of those “tweets” but this one was not signed. Anyway, yet another reason to like Twitter. You can follow me on Twitter right here.
The Sharks signed 25-year-old undrafted Swedish netminder Henrik Karlsson to a contract. Little is known about him but now that he belongs to an NHL team more will come to light over the next year. Think of it as a depth move for now. The team also signed Thomas Greiss to a two-year contract. I have Greiss penned in as the backup this year.
The Caps have hired Arturs Irbe to be their goaltending coach. Hey – you try finding some hockey news in mid-August!
Jim Balsillie is trying to question Leafs’ bigwig Richard Peddie in court and the NHL is fighting him. Now we get to the heart of the matter – what role the Leafs have played or will play and the fight against relocation to Hamilton. I would love to see Peddie before the courts and lay it all out there. The Leafs have been far too quiet.
