Bertuzzi

The Red Wings have signed Todd Bertuzzi to a one-year deal pending a physical, according to TSN.

Fantasy Impact: If the Jason Williams’ signing didn’t remove Justin Abdelkader from the roster before, this one will now. Looks like he’ll have to wait another year. Ditto for Jeremy Williams, who probably could have been a part-timer otherwise.

There is a chance that Bertuzzi will eat some of the power-play time that Ville Leino was going to get, but I think the youngster will prove himself enough early on to take the PP time right back in the second half. Still, you may want to roll his outlook back a few points. Danny Cleary also stands to lose some PP time.

Bertuzzi probably won’t play 70 games in a season again in his career. That puts his upside in the mid to high 50s now, which he could hit in Detroit. It’s an ideal situation for him.
