Lightning Sign Alex Tanguay

Assuming today’s physical went okay, Alex Tanguay has signed a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning for $2.5 million.
Fantasy Impact: If Tanguay ever returns to point-per-game form, it will be here and now with Tampa Bay. All it takes is chemistry with Vincent Lecavalier. The latter is finally entering a season fully healthy (not the case the last two years, though he hardly missed a game) and poised to get back to that level that makes him a 100-point monster. A talented winger will only benefit from that. If Tanguay can play 75 games, it seems almost a certainty that he will tally 70 points – and the upside is 10 or 15 higher than that. The problem is, Tanguay has only reached the 75-game mark twice in the last five seasons.
As for his impact on the rest of the lineup – I don’t know about you, but I had a spot on reserve for Tanguay (as seen in the Fantasy Guide) for about three weeks now. Once they bought out Prospal, it was inevitable. Ryan Malone will play with Steven Stamkos, as will Martin St. Louis – who had excellent chemistry with Stammer down the stretch. The lucky guy to play beside Lecavalier and Tanguay? So far, it’s looking like Martins Karsums. The only players to get a look would be Drew Miller and Steve Downie. Put me down for the guy with the first name in plural, but expect a revolving door all season long.
