Since the Rangers don’t play tonight, obviously the below statement is speaking about their next game.
Lundqvist is rumored to be nursing a lower body injury, possibly his groin according to Larry Brooks. He will be scratched tonight. If you are desperate for goaltending, you may want to nab Valiquette and hope that Lundy remains out for a week or so.
Dave Bolland will have back surgery and will be out for anywhere from one to four months. The Daily Herald is speculating a conservative estimate of at least two months. This will push the door a little further open for Andrew Ebbett, who may continue to see some ice time with other scorers. I think we’ll see Jack Skille get another shot at sticking as well.
Daniel Sedin will not be in the lineup tonight, but he could be back as early as Thursday or Saturday. Bernier will take his spot on the top line today.
Russo tweets that Adam Mair has cleared waivers, and that Drew Miller and Ty Arnason have been placed on waivers. I wonder why the waiving is coming in bunches?
Kris Letang is out two weeks with a shoulder injury. The Pens often use four players on the blue on the power play – Gonchar, Goligoski, Letang and Malkin. Suddenly, they are down to one. Orpik and Skoula could be used, though neither make good fantasy options. It will be interesting to see which forward gets moved back on the PP, because I think one of them will. That would, of course, free up a PP spot up front.
The Gazette is reporting new line combos for PIT: Sid with Fedotenko and Cooke. Staal with Kunitz and Guerin.
Russo has confirmed that Sykora is out with a concussion. He also updates PMB’s status (hint: it’s not good).
Portzline is reporting that Huselius is back skating and could be back early next week. He’s also reporting that Nikita Filatov has rightfully been placed on a line with MacKenzie and Dorsett during practice. That’s exactly where I would pencil him in. Get him in there and start hitting and checking.
Here’s a nice speech by Brett Hull last night, Hall of Famer Brett Hulll
Update on Dobber Nation – sorry for all the excuses, but I kid you not – now that the producer of the show is recovered from H1N1, we now have Andrew Walker himself – the host – joining the H1N1 ranks. At best we’re looking at a Friday release of the show and at worst it will be Monday or Tuesday…unless ‘I’ get H1N1.
John Glennon has updates on some Preds here. Including – Shea Weber (foot) could be back tonight, JP Dumont and Colin Wilson will not play tonight – but Dumont could play Thursday. Ellis will probably start.
Look for Ray Emery to either come up huge… or get chased from the net Thursday. The Flyers play the Sens and Emery’s former teammates will be just as hungry to score on him as he will be to stop them.
James van Riemsdyk (broken pinky) could very well play in that game. Daniel Briere (leg) will not play, but he could be back for Saturday.
The Sabres have waived Adam Mair. He got into just three games this year.
Jonathan Toews scored in his return from a concussion and played 19:09. He played with Sharp and Byfuglien. Other lines: Ebbett with Kane and Versteeg; Madden with Brouwer and Ladd.
This explains why Ebbett got on the board with a goal. Keeping him with Kane would obviously put him back on our fantasy radar.
Since there was only one game last night, may as well give you the other line combos. For LA: Kopitar with Smyth and Williams (of course); Handzus with Simmonds and Frolov; Stoll with Parse and Brown; Richardson with Purcell and Ivanans. Unless someone gets hurt, it would seem likely that Purcell will continue to go pointless. And Brown’s production should suffer on this line, although he always seems to find a way this year.
The Panthers have sent down Michal Repik and Jeff Taffe.
Glencross on Drury. Suspendable? Three games?
Over this hit by Richards on Booth?
I don’t have a problem with either decision on their own. I DO have a problem with both decisions being made for the same league. Either both get suspensions or neither. Discuss.
