The Leafs recalled Tyler Bozak and Ron Wilson has him centering Phil Kessel. Bozak’s AHL numbers may not impress, but he was hammered with the flue and lost 12 pounds. So if anything I would go by his preseason play – which was excellent. He’s a great dark horse. Naturally Matt Stajan gets hurt by this news, however he does have six points in the last 12 games which is actually four more than Kessel has – so he’s been doing it without Kessel.

Puck Daddy summarizes the Burrows/ Ref story nicely right here.

So Alex Burrows continues scoring and so Alain Vigneault finally decided – “Hey, maybe he can help on the power play, too!” Burrows got two markers last night, with one coming on the man advantage. He has chemistry with the twins that we haven’t seen since Anson Carter – the difference is, Carter was there back when they were 75-point players, whereas Burrows is there when these guys are scoring at a 120-point clip. Burrows is 14th in the league in goals, sixth in plus/minus, 38th in points and 29th in PIM. Gold!

I’ve noticed that for the last three games, Patric Hornqvist has seen at least 20 minutes of ice time, which has either led all Preds forwards, or has been close to it. Prior to that, he only saw one game all season in which he had 20 minutes of ice time. The coach is starting to lean on him, which should be good for Horny owners. Are you a Horny owner?

The Kings seriously mixed up their lines last night in an effort to jump-start the offense. They are 3-7-0 in their last 10. Line combos looked like this: Kopitar with Frolov and Parse; Handzus with Brown and Richardson; Stoll with Simmonds and Smyth; Moller with Segal and Ivanans.

Three fights in the first four minutes of the Avs-Flames game, and then zero fights after that.

Hardly anyone owns the big guns from last night. Sure, every league has Crosby in it, but Dupuis (three points)? Latendresse (four points)?

Latendresse has 15 points (10 goals) in his 21 games with the Wild. He is prone to prolonged slumps so he will never be a 75-point player. All the same, this trade with the Habs (for Pouliot) is really paying dividends. The jury is still out on the Pouliot end of it (four goals, no assists in nine games).

Andrew Ebbett was down to six minutes of ice time last night. I would guess that he will be waived as soon as Kobasew or Burns return. Then it wouldn’t surprise me if the Ducks took him back.

Michael Russo says that PM Bouchard still cannot exercise without concussion symptoms, but he is not ready to give up on the season. Fantasy owners should be.

Russo also points this out about the MIN game against CHI: “In a row, Patrick Sharp scored his 15th goal, Jonathan Toews scored his 14th, Kris Versteeg scored his 13th, Troy Brouwer scored his 12th and Marian Hossa scored his 11th.”

Keith Tkachuk is back skating after taking a slap shot off the mouth breaking four teeth. Says Tkachuk to “Morning Skate” – "I go 18, 19 years without losing any teeth and then I do it pretty much at the end of my career. That's a little frustrating, but it's surprise that it didn't happen sooner."

Paul Kariya will be back in the lineup next game. Andy McDonald will not. They call the McDonald injury “mid-body”, which is a new one.

The Flyers will continue with Leighton, who is on a 7-0-1 run, even though Ray Emery is ready to go. That will be the case until Leighton loses, I’m sure.

Interesting article on the NHL’s investigation of a Pittsburgh TV’s rights holder and why they withheld footage of a certain angle of a goal until it was too late. With the angles the NHL had, they could not conclude it was a goal. Footage below.

Kari Lehtonen practied with the team for the first time yesterday. Nik Antropov was also back in practice.

Tampa prospect Martins Karsums has cleared waivers and will now be able to freely return to Europe, which is his desire. It would also free TB of his salary on the cap (he was on a one-way deal, so he really had to blow it in camp – which he did).

Ed Jovanovski has been suspended for two games for elbowing Tavares in the head.

The Pens have recalled John Curry from the minors. Johnson has an undisclosed injury. Curry may get a shot later in the week, as the Pens are in a funk.
