Dobber Sports

2010-02-16

On the flip side of great hockey that is to come starting this week is the fact that our fantasy leagues are frozen. Go ahead – check your standings. Same as yesterday. And they’ll be the same tomorrow. Sigh.

Roberto Luongo will start for Team Canada against Norway, Brodeur will handle the Swiss. Whoever is better, I’m sure, will face USA Saturday.

Didn’t see this coming – Justin Pogge was the AHL player of the week last week. He stopped 97 of 100 shots and won all three starts. He was having an average season up until that point.

Sharks’ prospect Logan Couture has 45 points in 33 AHL games, really making an impact early in his pro career. However, as we warned you many times here, he is currently hurt (sprained shoulder). Such fragility could hold him to no higher than 70 points at the NHL level. He was the victim of a dirty hit, but as I’ve said before – fragile is fragile.

Marian Hossa, who missed the last game with a head injury, was on the ice in practice for Slovakia.

Marian Gaborik was not on the ice. Gabby will probably need a few days to heal that laceration enough that it won’t open or bother him during game action. Frankly I don’t think we’ll see him at 100% all tourney. Which means he won’t be at 100% when he returns to the Rangers, if he keeps irritating it.

Thank you Jeff Angus for putting together a great Olympics Pool for DobberHockey and coming up with some fantastic prizes. The full list of prizes can be found here. The final tally: 2387 joined this free pool.

Derick Brassard has an undisclosed injury, but he told the Columbus Dispatch that he will be ready when play resumes.
