Andrei Markov was in the lineup for Russia. Andrei Kostitsyn will not play for Belarus today, as expected.

I picked up both Hnat Dominechelli (for old time’s sake) and Mark Streit in the Olympics pool and they each drew an assist on the lone Swiss goal last night. Just found that cool

The performance of the goalies: Miller stopped 14 of 15; Hiller stopped 21 of 24; Luongo stopped 15 of 15; Nabokov stopped 18 of 20

The Big 3: Crosby had three assists; Ovechkin two goals; Malkin one goal and one assist.
Only one player on team Latvia does not have an ‘s’ as the final letter of his first name – Rodrigo Lavins. That helps me understand the ‘s’ in Oskars Bartulis and Martins Karsums!

Kozlov, Gonchar, Volchenkov, Grebeshkov and Korneev were the only Russians who failed to hit the scoresheet.

Keith, Seabrook and Morrow were the only Canadian skaters.

Ivan Vishnevskiy was paired with Chris Chelios in his first two games with the AHL’s Wolves and was a plus-6 in those games. He’ll definitely get a cup of coffee with the Thrash this season and I think he’ll make the team in the fall.

I wish I could show you Olympic highlights of some hockey action, but corporate greed prevents anyone from getting those highlights but the rights holders. Nothing against NBC or CTV – they paid huge money for the privilege. I guess…bah, I don’t know who to blame. I just wish society was a lot looser with some things in life.

I am selling tickets to the Marlies/Rochester game on March 27 for charity. Each ticket will send a kid to the AHL game on behalf of DobberHockey and the Children’s Aid Society. Tickets are $15 and I have sold 30 so far. The goal is to send kids to a game they would otherwise not have the opportunity to go to. Buy/donate HERE.
