If you placed in the top 10 of the DobberHockey Olympic Pool, check this topic out!
Atlanta acquires Evgeni Artyukhin from the Ducks for Nathan Oystrick and a conditional draft pick. I’ll do a fantasy analysis on this one tomorrow. I’m about wiped today…
I’ve been trying to set up a live chat for deadline day. I’ll be doing a live chat with Hockey Utopia Tuesday evening (I’m trying to sync that here as well). Lyle “Spector” Richardson will also partake. It should be a good one.
Rankings – up now. I will do a ‘special’ rankings after the trade deadline.
Minor deal – Isles send Greg Moore to Columbus for Dylan Reese, a d-man.
Breaking news from Bob McKenzie on Twitter – Calgary has re-signed Matt Stajan for four years at $14 million. Nice pay day! The next Daymond Langkow?
Steve Ott has reportedly agreed to a four-year contract extension with Dallas according to the Dallas Morning News. Salary is said to be close to $3 million per.
Here’s the tool I spoke of: I’ve been working with the good fellas at pickemfirst.com and now that DobberHockey has been added to the Blogs it is ready for you to use! Here’s what I want you to do – go to PickemFirst (watch the 1:54 video is optional). Then download the program onto your toolbar. You can run the program on any hockey news article you are reading. What does it do? It picks off names on the Internet page you are reading and sticks icons in front of each player. These icons are color coded to show you who is on your team, who is in your league, and who is available. Click the icon and a cool player window opens up telling you which league he is owned in, as well as options to click “new” (which gives you Yahoo and Rotowire points) and “blogs” (which gives you DobberHockey points). It’s all at your fingertips – so quick and easy. And FREE. I uploaded my Yahoo Experts League and synched it, as well as my CBSsportsline league in about two seconds. It was far easier to setup than I thought it would be and now on any page I can just go to my tools and run it. I stuck a screenshot of these very ramblings after I ran the program and clicked the icon beside “Danny Syvret”. See it below. I’d love to hear your feedback on this great tool – you know I only recommend the best for you! PickemFirst!
The NHL is back underway tonight, but with just one game – Detroit and Colorado. Gold medal game performers who may be tired in this one – Paul Stastny and Brian Rafalski.
Tomas Holmstrom and Milan Hejduk were unable to participate in the Olympics due to injury, but with the time off have probably healed enough to get back into NHL action. Both are expected back tonight.
As of midnight Sunday night, the trade freeze is lifted. We should start hearing of the deals that were consumated over the break throughout the morning. My guess is that two or three will be announced, including the Seidenberg to Ottawa one.
Philly rearguard Danny Syvret has been waived and will likely be sent to the AHL when he clears.
As expected, the ‘Canes have recalled Justin Peters. My money is on him getting the bulk of the load down the stretch, even though Manny Legace has had a couple of good games lately.
In case you missed it, I had a little fun yesterday morning predicting the outcome of the gold medal game, and there were some eerily successful calls – such as the final score and the way the US tied it in the final minute. Pretty cool – you can have a look by clicking “next” at the bottom to see yesterday’s ramblings.
My respect for Jonathan Toews has shot upward, as I”m sure it has for everyone. I still believe he’ll be an 85-point player – I think 90 is a stretch – but the intangibles that he brings is beyond what most NHLers even come close to. The hustle, and the checking, the hitting and clutch scoring. Chicago can win a Cup with Patrick Kane out of the lineup. They can’t win without Toews.
Keith Tkachuk will miss the next 10 days after having surgery on his finger. I’m sure David Perron will get a bump in ice time as a result.
Because the Habs play Boston Tuesday and in San Jose Wednesday, it looks as though Price will get the start in Boston. Halak is already on the west coast, so he may stay on that side of the continent and just join the team in San Jose for the Wednesday game. This according to TSN’s ice chips.
Jack Hillen, who had six points in seven games before getting hurt in the eighth game, and then missing nine before the break, is expected back tomorrow. That would be about a month earlier than expected. He was really rolling, so put him in your lineup.
Details on the winners for the DobberHockey Olympics Pool are forthcoming. I just need to touch base with Jeff Angus.
I have a fantastic new tool to show everyone. It was an idea presented at the FSTA Conference last month and DobberHockey is now all set up. I want to try some things with it this morning, but then I will tell you all about it. If you’re in more than one league, this thing is gold. Check in later…
Here it is…green icons mean the player is available in both leagues that I synched with the tool. Grey means that he is on another team in my league. Blue means that I do own him in at least a league.
