2010-03-16

Jordan Eberle has been assigned to Springfield of the AHL. It would be nice to see Eberle get a game or two in the NHL so we can see what he can do. But for now, the second best prospect to own in a keeper league will be in the ‘A’.

Jiri Hudler – back next year? Looks quite promising

Mike Modano had an appendectomy and will be out for about two weeks. With he and Wandell both out, I think we’ll see Perttu Lindgren get another call. Lindgren is having a fine North American comeback this season, but I think his chances of being a top sixer have dwindled.

Tomas Fleischmann is going to have a great two games, eating up a lot of Alex Ovechkin’s ice time while the latter sits out. Eric Fehr is another good one to consider for two games.

Good news for my American readers – Versus has come to an agreement with DirecTV. Versus is returning to the same channel it was on before. No financial details released, and I don’t know if Versus got their way (that is – not being relegated to a different pay package). Perhaps the American readers can fill us in here or in the forum if they get DirecTV and know more.

Evgeni Malkin may miss tomorrow’s contest. He blocked a shot with his foot Sunday and although it is not broken (x-rays negative) it is still painful. Besides that, as I hinted in my Hockey News article today, you may see some Pens (along with the Caps and the Hawks) start sitting roster players as they rest up for the postseason. Be sure to check out my THN article, usually up around noonish.

Interesting – Eric Godard may miss Thursday’s game against Boston. If so, then Matt Cooke will really be on his own out there! Look for Cooke and possibly Mike Rupp to rack up the PIM

He’s missed three of the last five games with a hand injury, but the two games he did play show that Kristian Huselius’ hand is just fine – six points, including four last night. Going back further, he has 27 points in 23 games. If he can stay healthy, he’ll get to 65 points.

I wonder if Huselius will ever put it all together once more, like he did in Calgary that one year. Oozes skill, but Kovalevs it all away every so often.

With the three injuries in Anaheim (Getzlaf – inflamed ankle, Selanne – sprained shoulder, Parros – bruised hand), the Ducks have recalled Kyle Calder from the Marlies. All three are considered day to day, but I’m guessing that Getzlaf misses at least two and Selanne misses at least three games.
After all, I am a doctor. In my mind.

Jan Hejda has a sprained right knee and should miss the rest of the season. More shifts for Russell and stralman.

The Jackets sent Mayorov back down after the game last night, which is a promising indicator that Nash will be back next game.

Michael Russo is reporting that the Wild have signed free agent college player Casey Wellman to a two-year entry-level deal for the rookie cap. He will make his debut against the Oilers (probably). Wellman is a goal scorer – his 23 goals for UMass is sixth in the country. The 22-year-old’s production in college is impressive, but then so was Jesse Winchester’s. My feeling is that he will be closer to Winchester than he will Bozak.

Now, five days before the event, I have three!!! tickets left to this amazing DobberHockey event. Details are outlined neatly (including some new ones) HERE. As you can see, now that the details have fallen into place, that this will be quite a fun event for Dobber Nation. You can buy a ticket right here – just three left.

Don’t forget to pick up my Fantasy Baseball Guide – spring training is well underway!
