Gonchar signs with Sens

Fantasy Impact – Ottawa has signed Sergei Gonchar to a three-year, $16.5 million contract with a no movement clause.
The Sens get: Their puck moving quarterback. This won’t hurt Erik Karlsson. In fact it will help him. Gonchar still has a couple of 50-point seasons in him and he got the third year that he was seeking.
Fantasy Players impacted: Sergei Gonchar’s value takes a dip. Ottawa is not as high-powered as Pittsburgh. Erik Karlsson will benefit with a strong, experienced partner on the other side of the PP. Jason Spezza couldn’t ask for a better quarterback for his power play, so his projected point totals should go up by five or 10 next season. The other defensemen with offensive tendencies, such as Chris Campoli and Brian Lee, are hurt by this move.
Fantasy Players this helps, in order:
1. Spezza
2. Karlsson
3. Daniel Alfredsson
4. Alex Kovalev
5. Mike Fisher
Fantasy Players this hurts, in order:
1. Campoli
2. Filip Kuba
3. Lee
