Angus

Are you wondering what your plan of attack should be this summer? Preparing for a draft? Upset about some trades you made in the past? I'll weigh in with my thoughts on the interesting and important issues.

Today I'll be taking a look at the team submitted to me by DobberHockey reader Chris.

The League

Lemon Hockey

The Team

Stealtown

The Rules

10 Team Keeper Rotisserie League

Keep Any 16 players (no positional keeper requirements)

21 Starters (12-F, 6-D, 3-G)

6 bench spots

Scoring Cats:

+/-, PIMs, G, A, Pts, Special Teams Goals (PPG&SHG)

GAA, SPct, GPS(W)

Starters must be filled before the bench (for example, if three goalies are kept, one cannot be selected in the annual draft until the other starting positions are all filled)

The Roster

(Stealtown's keeper selections are in bold)

F:

Alfredsson, Boyes, Brassard, J. Carter, Datsyuk, Fleischmann, Frolik, Hemsky, Huselius, O. Jokinen, Laich, A.McDonald, TJ. Oshie, P. O’Sullivan, Vanek, Zajac

D:

Carlson, Foster, Goligoski, Kaberle, E. Karlsson, Liles, Myers, Wideman, Wisniewski

G:

Anderson, S. Mason, R. Miller

Recent Trades

Outgoing: Mike Knuble and Patrik Hornqvist

Incoming: Michael Frolik

Nice trade. Frolik's upside is sky high, even though Florida's offense is absolutely abysmal on paper at the moment. He should hit the 55-point mark in 2010-11.

Outgoing: Alex Frolov and a 4th round pick

Incoming: Andy MacDonald and a 2nd round pick

I am a big McDonald fan, especially in a league that doesn't differentiate wingers from centers. I think he has a great shot at bouncing back to 70+ points. Frolov is arguably the most inconsistent scoring line player in the NHL (trust me, as a former owner of his in a league with weekly lineups, I remember keeping him in during his dry spells and benching him during the hot streaks).

Outgoing: Mark Streit and Nik Antropov

Incoming: Pavel Datsyuk

Who was your trading partner here, Antropov's brother? To get an elite forward for a good defenseman and an adequate forward is fantastic. Datsyuk's value won't get any lower than it is right now (hint to all of you reading this).

Outgoing: Ilya Bryzgalov and Tomas Plekanec

Incoming: Steve Mason, Teemu Selanne and Travis Zajac

Not a fan of this trade. Aside from a very strong two months during his rookie season, Steve Mason has looked completely overwhelmed at the NHL level. Selanne may retire. Plekanec/Zajac is a wash to me. Bryzgalov is elite and in a stable (on-ice) situation in Phoenix.

The Breakdown

Chris let me know some trade offers he is currently mulling over. I'll weigh in with my two cents on a few of them.

Alex Burrows and Lubomir Visnovsky for Pavel Datsyuk

Big time pass. Visnovsky has the potential to be one of the league's highest scoring defensemen in Anaheim, but Burrows is rehabbing from a serious shoulder operation and is a Mikael Samuelsson hot streak away from an offensive decline. Datsyuk is under value right now and should bounce back to the 95+ point mark in 2010-11.

Ilya Bryzgalov and Johan Franzen for Craig Anderson, Ales Hemsky, Tyler Myers and Thomas Vanek

Awful trade. Beyond awful.

Marc-Andre Bergeron, Ilya Bryzgalov and Matt Stajan for Craig Anderson, Thomas Vanek and Dennis Wideman

This one is even worse.

Michael Del Zotto for Daniel Alfredsson

Pass. Alfredsson probably has a few good years left in his legs. I like Del Zotto; he has a lot of upside. However, the name of the game is winning now. You are set on the back end for the next decade with Karlsson, Myers, Carlson, and so on.

The Recommendations

1) I can't say I disagree with your keeper choices. I like Boyes (especially with those scoring categories), but I wouldn't bump any of your keepers for him. As I have said before, try and float a 2-for-1 or 3-for-2 trade. In leagues with limited keepers, it allows you to upgrade and open a keeper spot for a similar player.

2) Think about selling high on Craig Anderson.

3) For the most part, you seem to know what you are doing with trades. Keep at it! I have had the most success in my pools with trading, not drafting.
