Kinnaird

A pretty straightforward audit – helping to pick keepers as the 2010-11 season approaches. Niclas Bergfors or Michael Frolik? Erik Johnson or a forward? DobberHockey reader Jarret wanted some help, and I was glad to oblige him!

Recent Trades

Outgoing: Alex Semin, Tom Gilbert

Incoming: Patrik Elias, Erik Johnson, Kimmo Timonen

Not a huge fan of this deal. Semin is a legitimate keeper in a points-only league, and none of the three you got in return are.

Outgoing: Ilya Kovalchuk

Incoming: Mike Richards, 1st and 2nd round draft picks

Again, not a huge fan. Quality over quantity, and you give up the best player in the deal. You said you were worried about the KHL option for Kovalchuk – simply put, he isn't going there.

Recommendations

1) Keep Bryzgalov. With Luongo, that gives you two stud goaltenders and you can focus your attention elsewhere at the draft

2) I really like Bergfors, but Frolik has more upside from an overall points standpoint. Bergfors may score 30 goals, but I don't see him progressing past 60-65 points.

3) Fleischmann isn't worth keeping. I was toying with the idea of keeping Johnson, but with each team only carrying three, there will be plenty available at the draft.
