Aviators

Another simple audit. Points-only, no goalies. Some interesting keeper questions, including the likes of Frolik, Vanek, Gagner, Wolski, and Derek Roy. Thanks to DobberHockey reader Andy for sending this one in.

Recent Trades

Outgoing: James van Riemsdyk, Matt Niskanen, Peter Mueller

Incoming: Dion Phaneuf, David Krejci, Michal Frolik

Great trade. Phaneuf is an upgrade on Niskanen. Krejci is a shor-term upgrade on both JVR and Mueller as well.

Outgoing: Dion Phaneuf, Andrei Kostitsyn

Incoming: Wojtek Wolski, Brent Burns

A decent trade. Phaneuf would probably have been a keeper. I like Wolski as a keeper as well. The other two wouldn’t make the grade.

Outgoing: Marc Savard, Justin Williams

Incoming: Derek Roy, Sam Gagner

Great trade, again. Williams is done as a productive NHL’er.

Recommendations

1) Keep Wolski over Gagner. I really like Gagner's long-term upside, but Wolski will out-point him over the next few seasons. I may get some heat for this, but I actually debated keeping Gagner over Vanek. In a points-only league (no differentiation between goals and assists), Vanek's value drops a bit.

2) Try and upgrade. You have a few good borderline keepers, especially on defense. None of them after Weber interested me that much, but perhaps you can swing a few of them for an upgrade on the back end (landing a potential second keeper defenseman).
