Larry Brooks is reporting that Anaheim is about to sign Paul Mara. That would about kill Cam Fowler’s chances. Signing Mara and Andy Sutton, and Fowler went from lock to unlikely.

Here’s a head-scratcher. Phoenix has signed Eric Belanger for one year.  They needed a second/third line center like the Leafs need a defenseman. So does this mean Wolski is back on the wing? If that happens, is Hanzal a first-line center? Wolski, Hanzal, Belanger, Turris, Fiddler, Ebbett, Wellwood. What the? I’ll be adding this to the Guide I am currently updating. Won’t have time for a full fantasy breakdown tonight, but will try to get one up on the morrow.

Bobby Ryan has signed with Anaheim. Five years, $25.5 million.

I “MAY” have found the issue with credit card rejections for some addresses outside of Canada and adjusted the settings accordingly. Please let me know if you still get an “AVS” rejection note. My apologies to about 20% of my customers who are going through this. Good ol’ growing pains, gotta love them. Confirmed – the issue is fixed!

The Edmonton Journal reports that the Oilers have told Sheldon Souray not to come to camp. What I can’t believe about this situation is that the Oilers actually think they can get a decent draft pick for him. Uh, no. You’ll need to take some salary back, and a lot of it.

Interesting statement by PIT coach Dan Bylsma – “I kind of see Brett Sterling as a guy who has that ability maybe score goals with [Evgeni] Malkin or a [Sidney] Crosby, in that kind of position. He’s going to get a chance to do that in training camp, to see if he can be that kind of player.”

Put your money on that not happening… but damn if it isn’t intriguing…

The NHL has fined the Devils $3 million, plus they lose their third-round draft pick in 2011, and a first-round pick in one of the next four years. That is the punishment for trying to push the CBA limit. Certainly a deterrent for other teams.

The Flyers have invited Bill Guerin to camp for tryout and he has accepted. The team has 13 NHL forwards – arguably the Top 3 in the league for forward corps. So why they would spend what tiny amount they have in terms of cap space on Guerin is…no way. I don’t see it.

Atlanta has indeed signed Niclas Bergfors – a one-year deal worth $900k. I like his upside – around 70 points – but I would be shocked if he reached 55 this year.

Interesting – Damian Cristodero reports that Ryan Malone has given Simon Gagne his number 12.

Vancouver has invited Peter Schaefer to camp.

I hope to have a small update on the Fantasy Guide later today. Currently, it is updated through Saturday.

Just a note on some problems certain Canadian residents are having in terms of credit card approval and their addresses not matching (when they actually do match, but it’s still getting declined) – we are looking into this and hope to have this fixed by this afternoon. If you are in a rush to purchase the guide, email me at [email protected] and I’ll give you instructions on how to pay by Paypal, or send a check. Maybe one in 10 residents are running into this barrier. We will resolve. Thanks for your patience.
