O’Brien to the Preds for Andersson, Parent

Fantasy Impact: The Vancouver Canucks have traded defenseman Shane O’Brien and forward Dan Gendur to the Nashville Predators for winger Jonas Andersson and Ryan Parent.
The Canucks get: an unproven, late-blooming offensive forward in Andersson who is on a one-way contract. They also get a defensive rearguard who is injury prone and is obviously not developing as well as expect given that he was traded for O’Brien – and the Preds still had to give more.
The Predators get: a solid, hard-hitting blue-liner to better fill their No.6 spot, plus a forward who can be sent to the minors. This move was about contracts. If the Preds picked O’Brien up via waivers (as was their right), then they would have too many one-way deals. Now they actually shed a contract and in their mind give the No.6 spot a small upgrade.
Fantasy Players Impacted: With Andersson out of the mix, Sergei Kostitsyn will have an easier time getting into the lineup. The Canucks will probably see how Andersson stacks up versus Jeff Tambellini and then put the lesser of the two on waivers. *update: Tambellini has been waived.
