Buffalo has recalled Luke Adam for today's game. Word is that Rob Niedermayer is out. Adam has had an awesome pro debut so far and was the first AHL player of the week. He is the only top forward prospect in the system with any size, so I really recommend owning him in a [...]

The Comedy of Controversy

Niemi

A starter loses a game. The backup wins the next one. Almost instantly, the word controversy seeps into my e-mail inbox, Twitter feed and Center Ice package. The term overwhelms my brain and pushes me to the edge of insanity. Only three weeks into the season and this trend has already happened with so many teams that I’m feeling nauseous, frustrated and annoyed.

Aaron Portzline is reporting that Kristian Huselius took a shot off the foot Saturday and he will not be in the lineup tonight. I'm guessing bruise, and not break, so he won't miss a lot of time.   Breaking: With Asham, Michalek and Orpik all returning to the lineup, the Pens have assigned Eric [...]

Angus here - my fantasy mailbag is open for business today! Ask me your fantasy hockey questions here.   JP Dumont left the Nashville contest with an undisclosed injury.   Carolina has sent Brett Carson to the minors.   Simon Gagne remains out with a stiff neck.   Johan Hedberg got the start for [...]

Saturday’s Picks – October 23rd

Stamkos

It’s great to have hockey back on again this year, and I apologize to the delay of our Saturday picks column as work has been crazy, and I’m finally in town to throw some numbers together.  Last year had its share of ups and downs... let’s face it, more downs than ups, but this is a clean slate so hopefully things can start off hot.  There are plenty of surprising teams to start the season, so I won’t be holding my breath this week.  Thunder returns for a 3rd season and it’s come to the point that I have to lock my other dog out in order to even get these picks done in time.  Hope everyone’s got a cold beer on hand for the 13 games scheduled this Saturday.

Connolly coming up aces for Lightning

Connolly

Taking Brett Connolly with the 6th overall selection was a bold pick for a new general manager.

There’s no disputing Connolly’s talent, but a pair of hip injuries last season that limited him to just 16 WHL games had teams concerned. That didn’t bother new Tampa Bay Lightning general Steve Yzerman, but it scared off a few other teams.

Mike Green is a game time decision for the Caps tonight.   Marcus Johansson won't play tonight, which is too bad considering how good he looked last game (I thought he was one of the Better Caps against Boston).   Johansson has a hip flexor injury - very common for early in the season. [...]

I am not sure if NJ can get the salaries to work... but how about a Bieksa/Clarkson swap?   A great point brought up in the comments section below - Pittsburgh has received an abnormally high number of power play opportunities early on this season, which has positively affected the production of their offensive [...]
