Your award winners (Hart, Norris, Vezina, Selke, etc) at this point in the season are…

Nick Backstrom on Semin: “I don’t know if I’ve seen anyone more skilled than him, to be honest with you. He can shoot from every angle. That’s pretty impressive. I’m just glad he’s on our team.”

Uh… how about that other Russian you play with?

I wouldn't argue with Backstrom though – Semin is arguably the most naturally talented player in the league. He definitely has the best shot league wide.

ESPN’s top 10 surprises of the season – can’t say I disagree with any of them/

Dobber: It sounds like Joffrey Lupul will be back in a game in 10-15 days. Just my hunch from this video.

Anaheim’s new third jerseys are disgusting.

Patty Sharp is back on track with four goals in his past five.

Corey Crawford is playing solid hockey for Chicago. As Dobber mentioned over on the forums, he probably won’t be able to take a stranglehold on the starting job unless Turco gets injured at some poiint.

Teemu Selanne has missed two straight games with a groin injury.

Kudos to those who stuck with Marty Havlat through a brutal start to the season – he’s been fantastic for the past month.

Alex Burrows is looking better and better each game. He now has goals in consecutive games for the Canucks.

Mikael Samuelsson was bumped down to the third line, but he still managed to find the back of the net twice. He’s a very streaky player – as long as he sees PP time and the odd shift with the Sedins, he’s good for 20+ goals.

Michael Grabner has points in three straight games for the Isles.

Thoughts on the Pronger no-goal call? Technically he was interfering with Kiprusoff, but the ref should have blown the play dead right away – the goal didn't go in until four or five seconds later.

Keith Ballard recorded his first goal (and point) of the season last night. He skated on the second pairing with Dan Hamhuis. Ballard's ice time has been very low to start the season, for a few reasons, but I'd expect him to inch closer to the 20-minute mark as the season continues.

Points-wise… He should see his fair share of points (at least compared to his current production). He skates well and makes great passes, and the Canucks heavily encourage offense from the back end.

Ondrej Pavelec is on fire right now. Kudos to Justin Goldman for predicting his good play (although even Goldman is probably surprised with how well Pavelec is playing).

Duncan Keith is going to get burned out in Chicago (if he isn’t already) – I have the same worries with Dan Boyle in San Jose. Not much depth means he has to play 25+ per game – and every single minute of that is tough.

The streaky Jussi Jokinen has quietly bumped up his production and he is now on pace for 63 points.

Ian White has three points in four games for the Hurricanes since the trade from Calgary.

Tuomo Ruutu has nine points in his last 10 games. Like Jokinen, he is a streaky producer, but mostly for health-related reasons.

Jamie McBain has two helpers in his past 10, and saw his ice time drop to less than 13 minutes last night. Clearly he has hit a bit of a wall.

The name says it all – Dan Hamhuis destroys Douglas Murray:
