Goldie Says: If you’re in need of a third goalie, Lawson is now a viable option. Now listed on the Isles’ roster, he was solid in his NHL debut, aside from the shootout. But knowing DiPietro’s history, Lawson should be on your radar.

Goldie Says: Roloson has been traded to TB for Ty Wishart. Roli’s fantasy value goes up big time. 99% sure Nathan Lawson will back up DiPietro now. CD was always heading back to Norfolk, but has proved he’s NHL ready. Not good news for Smith and Ellis owners. Who is the odd man out? Depends on the severity of Smith’s knee injury. I’ll have more on Monday.

After being a healthy scratch for two games, Jakub Voracek scored in his return to the lineup last night. Buy low candidate.

Shane Doan has 13 points in his last 10 games. He had a slow start to the season but is turning things around in a big way.

Another Coyote turning things around – Keith Yandle. 12 points in 10 games. I'm a huge Yandle fan as I am sure many of you know. (I seem to repeat the same thing a lot… it's for emphasis I swear!)

Weird road trip for the Flyers – blown out in Vancouver, blow out LA, blown out in Anaheim.

Matt Beleskey replaced Getzlaf on the top line.

One player I am looking for a big second half out of – Shea Weber. He had two helpers for the Preds last night.

David Legwand had two helpers last night – his first game since December 8^th. He's had an injury-filled first half. A solid buy-low in one-year leagues if you need a depth center.

Tavares had a goal and two assists – one of them on the OT winner.

Dwayne Roloson had another very strong game for the Isles. The ageless wonder will have a ton of value at the trade deadline in a few months.

Tomas Tatar scored a goal in his NHL debut. The injury to Patrick Eaves opened up a lineup spot for him.

PA Parenteau has five goals and eight points in his last eight games.

Cory Schneider was sensational last night in Dallas – 44 saves on 45 shots.

The Canucks were rolling on the PP, but Dallas controlled the game at even strength.

Kevin Bieksa has points in three straight games – his play is much improved at both ends of the ice from earlier in the season.

The Tampa Tribune reports that Cedrick Desjardins will get the start again for TB. Another Crawford-esque job steal? Opportunity + struggling starter + a prospect giving goaltending that is “good enough” = lots of dark horse W’s. We saw it from Jimmy Howard, and again from Corey Crawford.

The New Jersey Devils won their first game since 2007 last night. It may not have actually been three years, but it seemed that way. And of course Johan Hedberg got the win.

My resolution? Invent a time machine, go back to August, and decide to not trade Stamkos for Brodeur and Chara.

Dustin Byfuglien continues his assault on the stat sheet – 15 goals and 40 points already. Those would have been great totals at the end of the season for him…

What a debut for James Wisniewski with Montreal – two goals (including the OT winner), and a helper. He saw lots of PP time, and his right-shot opened up a lot of shooting avenues on the point. He's got a bomb and Montreal has a few great playmakers up front – potential for a great fit.

Andrew Ladd has slowed down in a big way offensively – one goal and zero assists in his past 10. Still on a very respectable (and more realistic) 60 point pace.

Scott Gomez has 11 points in his last nine games.

Dmitri Kulikov scored last night for the Panthers. If you own him in a one-year, think about cutting bait (lack of talent to play with). I love his long-term upside, though.

Angus here – I’m more of a Gin & Tonic kind of guy, but I think a few beer were mixed in.

Marek Zidlicky may be out for the season with a shoulder injury. An opportunity for Cam Barker to regain a regular spot in the lineup and on one of the power play units. More pressure on Brent Burns, who is having a terrific season.

Angus will be along shortly. We’re beer drinkers here at DobberHockey, so we’re always a little slow on this day. The difference between Angus and I though – when I roll out of bed at 11 it’s actually 11. When he rolls out of bed out there in Vancouver, it’s like 2pm over here. So here I am with some quick impressions. And a big thank you to my wife for watching our two-year-old and letting me sleep!

Olivier Roy was weak again for Team Canada. I may be right 52% of the time, but on this I’m right 100%: I know when a goaltender is “on” or not. I know right away. And often, based on the last game, I know before the next one if a goalie should be benched. In the case of Edmonton prospect Roy, I knew in the first period of Canada vs. Russia (the first game). He is not on. After that game, it should have been Mark Visentin’s job to lose (Phoenix prospect).

Canada’s first three goals were all fluke. Off a leg. Then a horrible shot from 1000 feet out that Robin Lehner should have had. Then a weird bounce off the boards. So in my books, Canada lost 5-2 before it even got to the shootout. Speaking of Lehner, I was really looking forward to seeing who I thought was the best goaltender in the tournament. Instead, I saw…that. Unimpressed, but he was probably pretty rattled after those fluky goals. I did not get the same “feeling” that I have been getting from Roy though. He was comfortable out there.

Welcome to Montreal James Wisniewski. Just as in Anaheim and Long Island, his impression on his two team was quick and big. Three points and in on all three goals. He’ll ride this wave for a couple of weeks yet. Congrats if you own him.

Mathieu Perreault, who missed the last game with a broken nose and mild concussion, will play in tonight’s Winter Classic (moved to 8pm by the way).

Jordan Staal will make his season debut finally. Look for him to play with Evgeni Malkin. I hope to see some magic, but I doubt it, given the time off.

After a run of four games with just one point and going minus-8, Ilya Kovalchuk has points in two in a row and has been in the plus column. Well, not really “plus”, more like “not negative”.

With Johan Hedberg getting the win, and Martin Brodeur struggling… it may be time to pick up Hedberg and see what happens if you have bench room.

Marek Svatos played 10 minutes in his season debut for the Predators. His presence may have spurred on the likes of Patric Hornqvist and Sergei Kostitsyn though. Three potential 30-goal snipers in the lineup, but as individuals they may only be 20 goal snipers. But coming at you from different lines make them more effective. I still stand by my comment that Svatos sucks, but I acknowledge that if the coach ignores his many shortcomings he could coax 30 goals and 45 points out of him. And his presence makes Horny and SK better.

John Tavares has 10 points in his last eight games. Heating up just in time for Okposo, who is a couple of weeks away.

Jeff Carter has been in on Philly’s last four goals. Just as I was getting upset with him, as an owner in one league.

Tomas Tatar scored in his first career NHL game for Detroit. I didn’t even know he was called up when I went through the summaries last night, so imagine my surprise. Jan Mursak also played, but was pointless. Tatar was brought up for a cup of coffee, but scoring is a great way to keep yourself around for a little while. The Red Wings are known for bringing their prospects along slowly and properly, so it would be shocking if they kept him up. But it would also be telling – if Detroit keep you up, then damn you must be ready.
