Dobber: I’ll post my analysis on the Mike Fisher trade later this afternoon. Naturally, the wheelings and dealings in the NHL does not happen around a convenient schedule that works for Angus or myself! But rest assured, there will be one up – and Fisher owners should be pleased.

Daniel Alfredsson is taking at least two weeks off to rest up his wonky back.

Pittsbugh’s fourth line interests me tonight – Brett Sterling alongside Dustin Jeffrey and Nick Johnson.

The top line will be Dupuis-Staal-Kennedy. Ouch.

Lupul will skate on a line with Bozak and MacArthur tonight. The Leafs are hoping MacArthur’s strong play is contagious.

For those worried about Malkin’s return (four-to-six months), don’t forget that Dany Heatley overcame a similar injury after his car accident a few years ago.

Brad Marchand is second in the NHL at plus-25.

San Jose is 7-0-1 since snagging Kyle Wellwood off of the waiver wire. I’m just saying…

Patrick Maroon has nine goals and 17 points in 28 games ever since being traded to Anaheim from Philadelphia. Maroon is now Anaheim property and could get a look at the NHL next season.

Does anyone on here remember former phenom goaltender Jim Carey? Well, he was the last player to win consecutive AHL Player of the Week honors before Nashville’s Blake Geoffrion did the same over the past two weeks for the Admirals. 13 points and a stellar plus-8 rating in four games will do that.

Anton Babchuk has been a pretty valuable defenseman for Calgary ever since the trade (and for poolies who held on to him). He had a goal, two assists, four shots on goal, and six blocked shots last night.

Is there a player in the league hotter than Antti Niemi right now? Niemi has won nine of his last 10 starts, and he has stopped 93 of the last 95 shots fired his way.

Carey Price’s eight goals allowed effectively killed the fantasy week for any poolie who owns him.

Some amazing stat lines for Boston last night:

Lucic – two goals, an assist, plus-5, three shots on goal, and 15 PIM.

📢 advertisement:

Horton – one goal, four assists, plus-5, six shots on goal, and six PIM.

Boston had five players with multiple-point games. The Canadiens had seven.

Rookie defenseman Yannick Weber had three points for Montreal – I know a certain DobberHockey member will be happy to see that.

David Desharnais had a goal and an assist and was all over the ice.

A fantastic read on Long Island prospect Rhett Rakhshani from our very own duballstar014 – check it out here.

Sami Salo will return to the Vancouver lineup this Saturday. Dobber doesn't advise picking him up, but I do (depending on your situation, of course).

If you are in a league that a) is one-year only, and b) places an emphasis on defensemen, Salo is worth scooping up. He'll start off on the second PP unit in all likelihood, as Mikael Samuelsson is in the midst of a hot streak on the top unit right now.

Salo couldn't be returning a moment too soon – the Canucks lost another defenseman last night, as Dan Hamhuis was smoked from behind by Ryan Getzlaf. I'd guess concussion. He left the ice under his own power, but he did look woozy.

Need PIM? Pick up Theo Peckham.

If Taylor Hall finishes the season with 25 goals and 25-30 assists, does that give him the Calder? I'd say Cam Fowler's season has been impressive, as has Logan Couture's. Do any of these three have enough to beat out Jeff Skinner, though?

Calgary won again, and Ottawa lost again.

I have one move all year to pick up a player and assign him to my farm who currently isn’t owned by another team in the league – chose to use it on Ottawa defenseman David Rundblad. Still raw defensively but he has offensive upside and a big opportunity to play significant NHL minutes in 2010-11.

From Joffrey Lupul’s Twitter: “Clarke Mcarthur just txt me saying “I’m gonna feed u so many one-timers ur gonna need off-season shoulder surgery”. Hillarious. I’m excited.”

Boston/Montreal was arguably the most entertaining regular season game I have ever seen:
