Jarkko Ruutu to Anaheim for a sixth. Fantasy significance: zero.

If any trades occur today, analysis will be posted later on tonight.

My guess on Kaberle return: Blake Wheeler, one of Zach Hamill/Joe Colborne, and a prospect.

Jaroslav Halak has been placed on the IR with a hand injury. The Blues have recalled Ben Bishop from the AHL. Conklin will get the majority of the starts, but don’t be surprised to see Bishop in there for a game or two.

Halak has been battling through the injury for a while. Explains his poor play.

The Isles have locked up PA Parenteau to a one year extension. Nice reward.

Brassard will be out for three weeks with a hand/wrist injury.

Kevin Bieksa is out for a few weeks with a small foot fracture.

That leaves Vancouver’s defense as: Salo, Ehrhoff………….. and? Right now the bottom four will consist of Aaron Rome, Yann Sauve, Evan Oberg, and Chris Tanev. Ouch.

In terms of where the current defensemen sit on the depth chart – #3, #5, #8, #11, #12, #13.

Jake Voracek has 17 points in his last 20 games. He's still probably undervalued in many keeper leagues out there – treat him as a future 80+ point player and proceed from there!

Jussi Jokinen returned to Carolina's lineup last night.

Ilya Kovalchuk has goals in three straight and seven in his last 10. He had a beauty last night against Carolina, even if it included faking out Joe Corvo.

Colorado lost its ninth straight last night – the longest consecutive string of losses since the team moved to Denver 16 years ago!

Unsurprisingly, Jordan Staal has averaged 25 minutes of ice time PER GAME over his last four. He has goals in three of those four games as well.

Chris Stewart has two goals in his last 10 games. Can any Colorado fans chime in on his struggles? I pegged him to have a slight drop in numbers, but he was hot out of the gate and I was getting ready to eat my words in November.

Kris Letang was pointless in seven games before his recent three game point streak. He has five points over that span.

Chicago got a strong start from Corey Crawford last night. Are they done trying to draw blood (good games) from a stone (Turco)?

Jack Skille is still pointless in Florida, but he is averaging close to 19 minutes per contest in the three since the trade.

Derick Brassard left the game last night after taking a puck off the hand – no word on the severity of the injury. Band-Aid Boy.

Dustin Brown has three points in his last 10 games. I have an interesting thought on him in my latest column. Glorified third line winger? His chemistry with Kopitar has completely fizzled out.

Kings prospect Andrei Loktionov has four points in his last five games with the big club. He appears to have leapfrogged past a few forwards on the depth chart.

Brayden Schenn is tearing the WHL apart. He will 100% be in Los Angeles in some sort of scoring role next season. I wonder if the Kings will entertain the thought of moving him to the wing? Big, strong, great vision… paired with big, strong, great hands (Kopitar)?

Dave Bolland has five assists in his last two games.

I like to sing the praises of players who have zero fantasy significance from time to time – Clayton Stoner has quietly developed into Minnesota's most steady defenseman. He pounded David Backes a few games ago in a lopsided fight, and he is a tower of strength in the defensive zone.

Don't be surprised to see Brent Seabrook traded in the summer. I think he may price himself out of Chicago (he is an impending RFA).

Want consistency? Draft Mikko Koivu. His last three seasons – 67 points, 71 points, and 70 points (on pace for).

Marian Hossa has seven points in his last eight games. Usually not a stretch worth mentioning, but he has had a pretty poor offensive season, aside from his first seven games (11 points).

Kris Versteeg had his first point as a Flyer – an assist – in just under 15 minutes of ice time.

Joffrey Lupul has three points in his last two games. The Versteeg trade opens up a regular spot for him in the top six.

Quite the offensive outburst in Anaheim last night.

Alex Semin had a hat trick.

Karl Alzner had three helpers – he had seven points all season before the game.

Neuvirth and Varlamov both had bad games – each allowed three goals on 12 and nine shots, respectively.

Cam Fowler fired a great opening round 67 last night (golf talk for a miserable minus-5 rating).

Toni Lydman had a goal and managed to be plus-2. His impressive season at both ends of the ice continues.

My latest 15 Points to Consider will be out on Friday – my thoughts on Byfuglien's new contract, the Versteeg trade, a potential Kaberle deal (yay) and more!
