Souray has cleared re-entry waivers.

The Flames have placed Niklas Hagman on waivers.

Martin Brodeur is ready to start – he may start tomorrow night, but then again are the Devils in a rush when Hedberg keeps getting the W’s?

Andrei Loktionov has been sent back to Manchester by the Kings, indicating a Marco Sturm return.

Fascinating re-cap of Dale Tallon’s trade deadline day history

Do you think the Flames enjoyed their pajama party yesterday? Wow, those uni’s were something to behold, eh?

Brett Sterling has a point in every one of his NHL games this season (five). And people wonder why I hold faith for so long in talented players. I can identify talent. I can identify potential. I can identify opportunity. That’s all I can do – the rest is up to the organization to slide the puzzle piece into the right slot… plus a bit of luck. In Sterling’s case, the piece was never put in the right spot and the one time it was (in ATL when Kovalchuk was hurt) – he didn’t catch a bounce. But now he’s caught a break, to the point where I think he’ll be the last of the minor leaguers to stick when everyone returns.

As I said, I can spot an opportunity, but if it doesn’t work out that’s hardly my miscue. I’m still correct about the opportunity, it just didn’t work out. So Kyle Turris owners have stuck with this guy for three years now. Do you think they’re sick of him? Do you think if you offered them a late pick for him that they’d bite, just to finally get him off their team? Then do it – I think he’ll be fine. It’s moving very slowly, but that’s also a lack of opportunity. If you remember earlier this year when Doan and several others were hurt, Turris was posting points every game. Opportunity.

It took longer than usual, but Gaborik is out again. Concussion. MZA and Wolski will see ice time bumps.

Late February and the see-saw battle between Neuvirth and Varlamov continues… I warned you thusly back in September. It again may take an injury to settle this.

The Windex Wonder – Rene Bourque – is at it again. After getting just 24 points in 50 games, he has six in his last three.

My opinion: Chicago and Los Angeles have teams that warrant inclusion in the playoffs. Dallas and Calgary do not. But Calgary is WHITE HOT and Dallas is without Brad Richards, so I think it will be Minny and Dallas who fall out.

Speaking of Minny –  Mikko Koivu is out for three weeks with a broken finger.

Jamie Benn is targeting a return to the lineup tomorrow night for Dallas.

We’ll know by noon today whether or not the Rangers picked up Sheldon Souray off of re-entry waivers.

Goalie rankings are on the way

Peter Laviolette accidentally punches Ville Leino in the head during tirade. Hat tip to Puck Daddy:
