I know Jonathan Quick is having a spectacular season, but games like last night must plant a tiny seed of doubt in the eyes of LA fans and management. Quick was horrible last year during the playoffs (to be fair, he had played over 70 regular season games and was completely spent).

If I owned Quick, I wouldn’t be rushing out to move him this summer, but I’d still be a bit worried with Jonathan Bernier lurking in the background.

The news regarding Manny Malhotra’s eye injury – not good. The words “career threatening” have bounced around on local radio. He had surgery on Thursday night after experiencing blood in his eye and impaired vision after being hit by a puck.

In the short term, this improves Maxim Lapierre’s fantasy value. He probably slides up to the third line. Either Jeff Tambellini or Tanner Glass will move to center the fourth line – perhaps we see Hodgson back up for the playoffs if Malhotra is indeed out long term?

New Jersey has won 23 of their last 29 games. Two of those losses have come against Ottawa in the last nine days.

Brian Rolston has seven points in his last 10 games – he has had a very solid second half for the Devils.

Erik Karlsson has eight points in his last 10 games.

When will Jamie Benn cool down? Two more points last night – he's been one of the best players in the league since the trade deadline. Big, gritty, fast, skilled, strong in all three zones – he really is the total package. Dallas fans should be very, very excited about his upside.

Mike Santorelli scored his 18^th goal last night, but it was his first in over 10 games.

Dmitri Kulikov has four points in his last six games. He has a ton of offensive upside but he won't hit it until Florida adds some more talent for him to play with on the power play.

Danny Briere has eight points in his last five games.

Loui Eriksson missed the game last night.

Richards and Ribeiro both had two helpers. Benn has moved back to wing since Richards has returned.

Brenden Morrow is three goals away from 30 – a quiet bounce back season. His offensive numbers nosedived after a serious knee injury a few years ago.

Curtis McElhinney is playing pretty good for the Senators right now – he stopped 34 shots and allowed only one goal against the Devils last night.

Interesting stat from TSN – before last night's game, Shane Doan had played more NHL games than all 12 Edmonton forwards combined.

The Avalanche have won two games since January 18^th.

Mikael Backlund is impressing in limited ice time. Quick, smart, and very skilled with the puck. I don't know if he has top line upside, but definitely top six upside.

Teemu Hartikainen had an assist for the Oilers in his NHL debut. He saw over seven minutes on the PP. The Oilers 6^th round pick from 2008 has 17 goals in 66 AHL games this season.

Ron Hainsey has four points in his last three games – he has been a disappointment offensively, but he isn't seeing much on the PP with Byfuglien and Enstrom ahead of him on the depth chart.

After returning from a back injury, Brian Rafalski left last night's game in the third with a leg injury.

Joey MacDonald got the start – and shutout – for the Wings in Columbus last night.

Andrei Kostitsyn and Sergei Kostitsyn both scored last night, dispelling the myth that they were actually the same player (there was an interesting breakdown of how they never scored or seemed to play well when they both played on the same night).

Aaron Palushaj made his NHL debut for the Habs – he was acquired from St. Louis last season for Matt D'Agostini.

Lecavalier had a quiet night on the score sheet, but not on the stat sheet. He recorded 15 PIM and was tossed for a vicious two-hand slash to the leg of PK Subban. Video below.
