I’ll have my fantasy mailbag opened up later today. Stay tuned and get your questions ready!

Any Dobber readers/members in the Phoenix area, I am going to be headed your way on Wednesday. The plan – golf, sun, and beer. I don’t think I’ll make it out to Glendale, as a Coyotes/Avalanche matchup doesn’t excite me all that much.

I’ll do my best to have a “15 Points to Consider” posted before I take off on vacation. I miss writing these and they have generated a lot of feedback and discussion.

Alex Goligoski has goals in three straight games.

David Legwand has 12 points in his last 10 games. Does he think he is a former 2nd overall pick or something?

Alex Pietrangelo has 41 points on the season. He’ll finish around the 45 point mark – a bit above where I was expecting.

Jordan Leopold, who has 13 goals and is having a very good season for the Sabres, is out for the season with a broken hand.

With Sean Avery back in the New York line up last night (albiet in spot duty), Mats Zuccarello was a healthy scratch.

Jimmy Howard had to leave the Detroit game last night after Joffrey Lupul was pushed onto him. He appeared to be favoring his shoulder/neck area. To make matters worse, Lupul scored on the play. Joey MacDonald came in and played pretty well, but he is no long-term solution if the injury keeps Howard out.

Capitals goaltending trio update: Braden Holtby with a shutout in Montreal. Your move, Neuvirth!

Holtby’s reward for the shutout? A demotion back to Hershey. As I said in my Puck Daddy column, his short-term value is tough to gauge because he is the only one of the three who doesn’t have to clear waivers.

Simon Gagne has 11 points in his last eight games, including two consecutive two-goal games. I guess he has some offense left in hima fter all.

Good news on the Howard front – it doesn’t sound significant.

James van Riemsdyk posted his first career hat trick last night. I’d expect a few more before he hangs them up. He is a great candidate to break out if the Flyers move a forward or two, as the only thing really standing in his way is ice time.

Henrik Lundqvist now has 11 shutouts on the season. The goaltenders have been dominating the league. We may only have three 40+ goal scorers at this rate.

Stephane Da Costa, the most hightly sought college free agent this year, is now free to sign with an NHL team after his team at Merrimack College was eliminated. Pittsburgh would be a great fit for both player and team. No less than 15 or 20 teams are expected to offer him contracts.

The French born Da Costa has had consecutive 45-point seasons at Merrimack.

Corey Perry has 20 third period goals this season. No one else in the league has more than 16. Got Hart?

The Kings are royally screwed with Anze Kopitar on the shelf for at least six weeks (broken ankle). He joins Justin Williams, who is done for the season and playoffs.

In his absence last night, Handzus moved up to play with Penner and Moller, while Trevor Lewis centered the second scoring unit. Where art thou, Brayden Schenn?

Eddie Lack continues to be sensational for the Manitoba Moose. He was a huge unknown to most in the hockey world before this season, but he is working his way into the discussion as a legitimate goaltending prospect.

The Montreal Canadiens have gone nine periods without scoring a goal.

Dubnyk with absolute larceny:

Another great NHL commercial:
