Since signing a massive extension earlier this season, Jack Johnson has one goal and is minus-17 in 40 games.

Goldie says: The Sharks have put Thomas Greiss on re-entry waivers. Interesting. What a good opportunity for a team like Colorado to get a skilled goalie capable of being a starter at half-price. I’ll be watching.

Corey Perry had five shots on goal in 29 minutes of ice time last night (regulation game). He was pointless, and needs five points in his final game (and Daniel Sedin to go pointless in his) to capture the Art Ross.

Two more goals for Selanne last night – 30 on the season, and 10 in his last 10 games.

This spreadsheet is unbelievably quick and easy to use – you basically pick your teams that you think will win each round, and it spits out the projections for each player in order of how many games they will play (so each list is customized to exactly how you see things ending up).

The final three spots in the West are going to be decided on the last day of the season, it looks like. Chicago, Dallas, Anaheim, and Phoenix are fighting for three spots.

Forgot to mention this yesterday – Corey Perry is the first player in 14 years to score 50+ goals and record over 100 PIM in a single season. Fantasy MVP of the season for many (myself included).

The Leafs have signed college standout prospect Matt Frattin to a contract, and he is making his debut on Hockey Night in Canada against the Habs. No big deal…

Ottawa has signed Andre Petersson to a contract. The 20-year-old was drafted back in 2008 but has seen his development stall over the past two years in the SEL due to a lack of ice time. He is quick and very skilled with the puck.

The only league I own Perry in doesn’t count SOG or PIM though, unfortunately (points only).

Some fantastic hockey games last night – I was channel surfing for most of the early evening.

Three more points for Jeff Skinner to cap off an extremely impressive rookie season. He’s grabbed a tight squeeze on the Calder Trophy with a strong final push.

Dustin Byfuglien was pointless last night, but he managed to rack up 14 PIM.

Vinny Lecavalier’s strong March/April continued with two goals against the Panthers last night. Overall his season has been far from special, but he is trending upwards at the right time.

I have a hunch that we have seen Steve Downie’s best days as a PIM producer. He is still over 170 for the season, but Tampa Bay coach Guy Boucher doesn’t seem to be liking Downie’s style of play as much as former head coach Rick Tocchet did.

Downie is a solid offensive player, but I’d be wary of considering him a 200+ PIM player any more.

Michael Frolik had a helper for the Hawks last night, but he has been pretty miserable ever since coming over from Florida. Frolik is a risk to bolt back to Europe in my books. Seems to be lacking drive and determination right now.

Buffalo clinched a playoff spot in a fantastic hockey game against Philadelphia – Thomas Vanek capped the comeback with the OT winner.

Nate Gerbe was extremely impressive, scoring twice (including a creative spin-o-rama to tie the game up). Gerbe hadn’t scored in five previous games.

Gerbe also fired six shots on goal.

I am interested to see how the Sabres look next season. Still early, but there are a lot of moving parts – some free agents, Derek Roy returning, Ennis, Gerbe, and prospects like Zach Kassian and Luke Adam in the mix as well.

Ryan Miller returned to the Buffalo lineup to replace Jhonas Enroth after two. Enroth was by no means playing poorly, but the Sabres recognized how important the game was.

Brad Boyes was pointless and minus-3. Not his best game. I haven’t caught many Sabres games since the trade – how has he fit in? Seems a bit redundant, but it was well worth the gamble.

Prime Cuts pick Travis Hamonic made me look good with a great game last night. He was physically dominant and scored a goal by unleashing a rocket from the point. Could be the triggerman next season on the top PP unit alongside the returning Mark Streit.

Hamonic also added a helper, and played close to 30 minutes (over eight on the PP and three on the PK).

Don’t underestimate the impact Streit will have on that team – it is amazing how well several of their forwards have done – Comeau, Moulson, and so on – considering the team lacks a true PP QB.

I omitted Grabner from the list above because he is able to create offense on his own purely using his speed.

Zbynek Michalek scored his fifth of the season for the Pens. This might be the first time has been mentioned in the ramblings this season, but I figured he was due some praise. The understated defenseman has been a rock for the Pens. May not have direct fantasy value, but he has helped increase MA Fleury’s tremendously.

Jordan Schroeder was a healthy scratch for the Manitoba Moose last night. Cody Hodgson sat out with an upper-body injury. (Band-Aid Boy, much?)

Claude Giroux led all Flyer forwards in ice time by almost two minutes.

Dan Hamhuis returns tonight for the Canucks – their top six defenseman will play together for the first time all season.

Cory Schneider is getting the start tonight – his 25th appearance of the season, thus making him eligible to get his name on the Jennings Trophy (team with lowest GAA).

I know he gets clowned a lot on the internet, but Kyle Wellwood has had a pretty significant impact on the Sharks. He has given them a legitimate third offensive unit, which will be huge heading into the playoffs.

The Blue Jackets have lost 17 straight games in Nashville. Ouch.
