Draw winners – Jason Biggs and John Loop win the books. Sean Kelly wins the Oakley’s! Contact me (info via the Dobber Sports FB page) with your shipping information!

This is it – draw is in the early afternoon (ET)! “LIKE” Dobber Sports on Facebook, and win yourself a pair of Oakley’s! I’ll draw a name from one of the likes, and send the winner a pair. We are also giving away two free copies of Tales from the Boston Bruins Locker Room, by Kerry Keene, from Sports Publishing!

This book is a collection of the greatest Bruins' stories ever told. Which is fitting after the Cup drought that lasted 14,279 days! From the origins of the team and how it all came together (thanks to Charles F. Adams), Keene finds interesting tidbits for many of the players, events – and even landmarks like the Boston Garden – in Bruins' history. From the story behind the Ray Bourque draft pick of 1979, to Mike Milbury's shoe incident – Keene has it here. And those who caught DobberHockey senior prospects writer Matt Bugg's story in The Hockey News about Don Gallinger and the betting scandal, can delve even deeper behind the scenes – remember, Gallinger was a Bruin. Once again, you can pick that up here.

And for a look at the Oakley's shades we'll be giving away, click here.

Some minor deals – the Habs have signed goaltender Peter Delmas to a three-year deal and goaltender Nathan Lawson to a one-year deal. The Lightning have signed forward Trevor Smith to a contract. The Isles have signed Trevor Frischmon to a one-year deal. The Oilers signed Ryan Keller. The Bruins signed Josh Hennessey. The Red Wings sign Garnet Exelby and Logan Pyett. Columbus signed d-man Aaron Johnson. No fantasy impact here.

The Blues have signed checking center Scott Nichol to a contract.

I like the thinking here. Trade Pekka Rinne? Now might be the best time!

Steven Stamkos is nearing a deal with the Lightning, per Nick Kypreos. I believe that, at a cap hit of over $7 million bones, somebody needs to be moved. Granted, they'll have just under $8 million left…but they need to sign Ted Purcell, plus add another two forwards to the roster (possibly Brett Connolly as one of them). They would be under – but with just $2 million or so of breathing room, it seems a little tight. My hunch – Ryan Malone. They'd have to take salary back (like the Preds did with Brett Lebda), but he could be moved.

Andrew Ladd has re-signed with the Jets – five years. Maybe not as many PIM, but think of a former Jet when you think of Ladd's career path. Shane Doan.

The Wild have signed Darroll Powe for three years.

The Blues have re-signed their probable back up – Ben Bishop.

Yesterday was the big deadline for players to file for arbitration, which was why there were so many signings. The Leafs signed Clarke MacArthur and Tyler Bozak. While Buffalo's Andrej Sekera, Nashville's Kostitsyn, as well as Columbus' Marc Methot file – Methot later signed with the club. Full list of players who filed can be found here.

Sekera is an interesting case – he really blossomed in the final third of the season, showing that he can be a 45-point defenseman. But then the Sabres added Robyn Regehr and Christian Ehrhoff, both of whom pass Sekera on the depth chart. Sekera blossomed when Jordan Leopold was hurt, so his position on that depth chart is tremendously important. The arbitrator won't know this, so I think there is a chance that the Sabres would walk away from a ruling if it came to that. On another team, Sekera could very well pick up where he left off…

Nashville has signed Zach Stortini and Kyle Wilson.

The Flames have signed their first round pick Sven Baertschi to a contract. They generally don't put teenagers on their roster, but I'd be lying if I said they won't give him a long look this fall.

The Pens have re-signed Brad Thiessen to a contract. He's the underrated, underappreciated No.3 goaltender in their system. They also signed Alexandre Picard (the defenseman) to a contract. An excellent depth player.

It looks like the Red Wings will go with Ty Conklin as their backup, or so they say.

Congrats to Neil McWilliams, the winner of the DobberHockey Playoff Pool challenge. He wins a free custom jersey from Cool Hockey!
