Will Ryan Jones see significant enough time next season to score 25 goals? Probably not. Edmonton has a number of wingers ahead of him on the depth chart, and he benefitted from a slew of injuries last season. Even on bad teams, there has to be at least a few players who find the back of the net on occasion.

I'd slot in Jones on the third line with Belanger and Paajarvi right now.

The Ducks could sneak into playoff contention if Jonas Hiller has a Vezina calibre season. If not, they'll be fighting for 10^th or 11^th in the West. Not enough depth behind the big guns at forward and defense.

Puck Daddy likes Palmieri as a sleeper, and I'd agree (especially if Selanne retires):

"Kyle Palmieri had a Perry-like 15 goals in 14 games to close out the AHL season. The Ducks need a right-handed forward and a bit more scoring pop. Provided he makes the team out of camp, and doesn’t have another midseason swoon offensively, he could be a factor as a 20-year-old USA Hockey product."

Will a further emphasis on two-way play in Washington hurt Green and Ovechkin? I can't see either player performing as bad in 2011-12 as they did in 2010-11. Green was consistently injured and looked confused adjusting to the new system. Ovechkin seemed laboured as well, and his set up man (Backstrom) really struggled, as well.

Green is simply too dynamic and talented to struggle. He may not score 30 goals, but he'll be up with the league leaders in defensive production.

A good read on Marcus Johansson, who could see some time with Ovechkin this season if Backstrom's struggles continue.

Last year I took a homerun swing and missed with Peter Regin. I really liked what I saw from him during the 2009-10 stretch run and first round of the postseason. He was pretty bad last season. Sometimes when we take a leap of faith on a player only to be disappointed, we reign in our opinion to the other extreme.

Regin shouldn't be off any fantasy radars out there. His disappointing play last season is troubling, but he still has a great opportunity to earn the second line center gig in Ottawa. His competition consists of Bobby Butler (likely to play RW with Spezza) and Mika Zibanejad right now…

What are you expecting out of Derek Roy this season?

Roy will line up with some talented linemates this season. The Sabres could fill three balanced offensive units with their talent. Roy will be with Vanek and one of Ennis/Stafford/Pominville/Boyes. He has the talent to be a 70-80-point player, but he needs to prove he is healthy. He reminds me a lot of Doug Gilmour – undersized, but not afraid to battle. His reputation for diving is not unearned, however.
