Steve Mondator had a goal and an assist last night and how has six points in his last four games. He’s been a solid point producer in the past, and playing on a strong even strength team like Chicago is going to help his production a lot.

Slava Voynov played for the Kings with Alec Martinez injured. Voynov saw a lot of ice time (close to 24 minutes, five of it being on the PP). He had a great stint with the Kings earlier on in the season. No points last night, but he’s a defenseman to watch in the short term for one-year leagues (and of course longer term for keepers).

Matt Duchene is so obviously a winger if you watch him play. He is way more effective playing there, as it allows him to linger around in the offensive zone a bit longer. He's one of the most creative players in the league. Colorado doesn't have a center capable of playing a top six role right now (to replace Duchene), although Ryan O'Reilly could one day get there if he adds some more offense to his game.

If/when he ever is moved to wing full time, expect his production to increase quite a bit.

Ilya Kovalchuk scored a beauty goal and played close to 23 minutes – he is logging a crazy amount of ice time once again this season. Seems to be able to handle it well, as he's done it for his entire career.

Some interesting numbers from DobberHockey member Pengwin7:

Among forwards:

TOI/game

#1. Kovalchuk 25:14
#2. Parise 22:30
#3. Getzlaf 22:30
#4. C.Perry 22:25

#1. Kovalchuk 61s/shift
#2t. M.St.Louis 57s/shift

#2t. E.Malkin 57s/shift

5-on-5 Goals For/Goals, Against/Net

Kovalchuk: 6/13, -7
Parise: 10/12, -2
Getzlaf: 7/11, -4
C.Perry: 7/10, -3
M.StLouis: 15/10, +5
B.Richards: 11/11, E
E.Malkin: 8/8, E

David Clarkson also scored, benefitting from increased time on the power play (3:25 last night).

Adam Larsson was pointless, but he was a plus-2 and played close to 23 minutes (including over four on the PP).

Adam Henrique had a great game. Two helpers, including a really good one short handed on Parise's goal. He's filling in seamlessly on the top line. He's played the role before (albeit in junior) when he skated with Taylor Hall in Windsor. Henrique isn't the most skilled prospect in the world (not to say he's a slouch in that area), but he's a very smart player and is making the most of this opportunity. Two very important things.

Tyler Myers scored twice and added four shots on goal in his first game back after being a healthy scratch last night. Coach takes the credit for this one?

Enroth allowed five goals on 19 shots – as quickly as poolies rushed to pick him up yesterday, do they drop him today? He's a great goalie, but it is tough to win consistently at the NHL level. Chalk it up as a bad start, and don't overreact to it.

Christian Ehrhoff is on pace for close to 50 points (like last season), but he has scored only once this season.

This isn't entirely fantasy relevant, but Carolina is awful. Montreal looked they were playing against a QMJHL team last night.

PK Subban scored his first goal of the season – look for them to start coming in more regularly now. He was getting a lot of pucks on net without any going in (before last night, of course).

Lars Eller is a fun player to watch – I see his career going one of two ways: he could use his speed and size to become an elite checking line winger, or he could progress offensively into a two-way force. He's still young, and I like his chances at developing into the latter. Looks a lot more confident than he did last season.

Chris Stewart was given three games for the hit on Kronwall. He's not a dirty player but it was a pretty reckless play.

Some injuries in Toronto will force Ron Wilson to shuffle the deck – Grabovski out for a few weeks and MacArthur out for an unknown period of time.

Connolly will center Frattin and Kulemin on line two, while Bozak stays on line one with Kessel and Lupul.

Filatov is unhappy in Ottawa and is rumored to be returning to the KHL. Color me surprised…
