How do you feel about all this outdoor hockey? My opinion – it’s nice once a year. Maybe twice. Let’s not saturate the idea. Myself, I’d like to go to one. But after going to one, I could care less. In fact, if I’ve been to an outdoor NHL game and I was offered a choice of tickets – another outdoor game or a proper arena…I’d take the arena. There’s a reason man built shelter in the winter – evolution.

So the Jagr signing was made official. And the Devils were brilliant and putting in a “games played” incentive for half of it. But then Jagr’s agent was brilliant in making the incentive so easy. I believe his total NHL earnings are something like $112 million now. And what did he make for three years in the KHL? I’d guess $20 million. The guy’s a fantastic businessman. Making $132 million in salary for playing hockey is amazing. And what about sponsorship money?

I love the spin of NHL executives. So apparently the Canucks “made the choice” to go with Roberto Luongo.

The Kings signed Trevor Lewis to a one-year deal. The emergence of Tyler Toffoli and the addition of Matt Frattin hurt Lewis’ shot at finally moving up to a scoring line. I have him for 25 points in 73 games next season. A career high, but he’s still only improving slowly.

Yesterday I posted links to the Evaluation Camp invite lists for Canada, USA, Russia and Sweden. Well here’s Finland. Eight goalies invited. I wonder what Petri Vehanen is thinking. That he has a shot? With Rinne, Backstrom, Niemi, Rask and Lehtonen there?

Some David Perron info on how he didn’t fit in with teammates in St. Louis, was cocky and unprofessional.

And then a tongue-in-cheek response to the article by Copper and Blue.

Dog days of summer…

These ramblings are ‘record’ short. I apologize, but after spending 30 minutes looking for another topic or article, the best I could find was that Eric O’Dell signed. You won’t want me to get into that do you? I’m going to put time into the Fantasy Guide now…

Best of Jagr:

Nice Trevor Lewis goal on Luongo:

Keeping Karlsson Short Shifts – The Wilkes-Jarry Penguins

Elizabeth and Lewis are back to take listeners through a host of power play changes that are giving managers the opportunity to get exposure to great players off the waiver wire, including Philly, Jersey, and Tampa talk. They also cover Jarry’s AHL demotion, Cooley’s ascension to the top-line and powerplay, and injuries to Tavares and Hintz. The duo wrap up with some hot and cold streak deep dives, including discussion of the Red Wings crazy powerplay success in the last ten games, whether Erik Gustafsson is rosterable or an overperforming illusion, Fantilli’s continued success, Merilainen as Hamburglar 2.0, and whether Schenn’s success and Neighbours’ lack thereof are likely to continue.

Keeping Karlsson Short Shifts – Thanks for Vejmelkmories

Elizabeth and Lewis reunite to bring you all the latest fantasy news and strategy, such as how our siblings would fare if called on to fill our roles like Owen Sillinger did for bro Cole. Then it’s onto news including coverage of the postponed CGY/LAK game and defensive injuries piling up in MIN and putting some strain on Gustavsson’s performance. Injuries and outjuries include a pair of goalies returning to their teams in Ingram and Shesterkin, as well as how Monahan’s wrist injury opens the door for big minutes for Fantilli. Finally, the pair touch on Voronkov and PLD’s hot streaks, and discuss John Carlson’s rollercoaster in light of Chychrun’s production.
