EASTERN CONFERENCE
Joel Armia (hand) has been out since the Buffalo Sabres training camp but could play by Nov. 15-16. He has been cleared for contact and is practicing in Rochester.
Jeff Skinner (upper body) will miss another two weeks; per Carolina Hurricanes head coach Kirk Muller.
Cam Ward (lower body) hasn't skated since the injury but did some off ice work on Wednesday.
Anton Khudobin (lower body) skated on his own as of Tuesday but still needs more time.
R.J. Umberger (neck) is a game-time decision after spraining his head at practice on Wednesday.
Boone Jenner (leg) skated on his own on Tuesday, first time since injury.
Nathan Horton (shoulder) skated on his own for second day in a row but still no timetable for a return.
Matt Calvert (abdomen) is back skating but still needs more time; could return to practice next week.
Brendan Smith (shoulder) was placed on short-term IR on Monday for a slight shoulder separation. He will miss a minimum of seven days.
Johan Franzen (illness) will be back practicing and the Detroit Red Wings are hopeful he will be ready to go this coming Tuesday.
Jonathan Ericsson (shoulder) is hoping to return to the line-up next Friday.
Tim Thomas (leg) stopped pucks during optional skate but remains on IR and is not playing against the Boston Bruins.
Daniel Briere (concussion) no longer has concussion symptoms and has resumed skating.
Brandon Prust (shoulder) is out of the Montreal Canadiens line-up for another two weeks.
Alexei Emelin (knee) will see his doctor next week and is hoping to get the green line-up; could be back in the line-up as early as next week.
Patrik Elias (back) won't play Friday and is now on IR.
Bryce Salvador (foot) has yet to resume skating with the New Jersey Devils.
Ryane Clowe (head) could be out long term with a concussion.
Jonathon Merrill (face) played his first NHL game on Sunday and now might have a concussion.
Rick Nash (concussion) skated on Tuesday at the practice facility. He is still week-to-week.
Craig Anderson (neck) stayed out after practice, but won't serve at Ottawa Senators back-up. He is getting close to a return.
Steve Downie (concussion) took part in the morning skate after suffering a concussion at the hands of Aaron Volpatti in a fight on Friday.
Beau Bennett (lower body) feels like he is on the cusp of returning, possibly Saturday.
James Neal (upper body) has been practicing and could return next week.
Dave Bolland (ankle) is out indefinitely after undergoing surgery to repair a severed tendon in his ankle.
Tyler Bozak (lower body) is placed on long-term IR and won't be eligible to return till November 21.
WESTERN CONFERENCE
Saku Koivu (head) was out skating on Wednesday; he is day-to-day.
Viktor Fasth (lower body) skated on Wednesday and the plan now is for him to return to practice and hope is that he'll be ready to play soon.
Curtis Glencross (knee) is out six weeks with a knee injury.
Ryan Wilson (back) didn't practice and won't be playing on Friday.
Alex Tanguay (knee) will miss at least two weeks for the Colorado Avalanche.
David Perron (neck) will be joining the Edmonton Oilers for practice on Friday and could return Sunday.
Justin Schultz (groin) is doubtful to play any games this weekend.
Matt Greene (undisclosed) is banged up according to Los Angeles Kings head coach Darryl Sutter and is doubtful to play on against the Buffalo Sabres.
Jarret Stoll (upper body) is skating on his own and is still day-to-day.
Jeff Carter (foot) placed on IR on Friday and Kings coach found out at a post practice media scrum.
Keith Ballard (upper body) is not traveling with the Minnesota Wild and is out this weekend and quite possibly longer.
Pekka Rinne (hip) has an E. Coli infection in his hip and is expected to miss six-eight weeks.
Matt Hendricks (upper body) is being re-evaluated and the Nashville Predators hope to have an update on Saturday.
Derek Morris (lower body) left the game on Tuesday with a lower body injury and didn't play on Wednesday, no further update.
Brent Burns (undisclosed) skated with teammates on Tuesday and is getting close to a return, but no date yet.
Brenden Morrow (upper body) placed on IR and hasn't played since October 29; he is improving but not cleared for contact yet.
Magnus Paajarvi (upper body) has been improving but isn't cleared for contact.
Evander Kane (lower body) took part in morning skate and warm-up on Wednesday but was a healthy scratch. Maybe the Winnipeg Jets are just playing it safe.
