Bad news for the Canadiens as Alex Galchenyuk will miss six weeks with a broken hand.

Sergei Bobrovsky returned to the Columbus goal after missing more than a month with an injury and didn't miss a step stopping 40-of-43 shots in the Blue Jackets' 4-3 shootout victory over the New York Rangers.

James Wisniewski notched a goal and an assist and played nearly 28 minutes because fellow defenseman Fedor Tyutin got injured. If Tyutin is out for a while that could mean big minutes for Wisniewski going forward. Wisniewski hadn't even hit 25 minutes in a game yet this season.

Brandon Dubinsky also picked up two points but what was more impressive were his shots. He fired four at New York's net after only combining for four in his last three outings.

Ryan Johansen, although he did get the shootout winner, has officially come crashing down to earth. Johansen has now gone three games without a point and five of his last six overall. He's also been a minus-4 over that stretch. The good news is he did play over 20 minutes, which is his most in a couple of weeks.

Henrik Lundqvist actually had a solid effort despite the loss. He couldn't really be faulted for the goals and he did make 36 stops. Hopefully something to build off of.

Rick Nash scored twice for the Rangers after going without a point for three games. Outside of a short streak at the end of November, Nash's scoring has been pretty sporadic all season, so it will be interesting to see if he can put together some decent performances in a row for a change.

Brad Richards looked great in this one posting a solid six shots and an assist. He's now got points in two straight after going six of seven without one.

Speaking of points in two straight, Michael Del Zotto! You can only hope to contain him! Despite his struggles this year he's still receiving big power play minutes, so you may not want to give up on him just yet.

The reason Tyutin left the game was because he was boarded by Chris Kreider. Kreider received a game misconduct so there could be more discipline to come.

In honour of the NFL playoffs, the Islanders put up a touchdown and beat the Stars 7-3. John Tavares exploded for three goals and two assists to lead the way. That's a great way to start your fantasy matchup on a Monday if you're a Tavares owner.

Tavares and Thomas Vanek have been on a major run lately. Vanek chipped in with two assists and now has 14 points in his last nine games, and five of those contests have been multi-point efforts. I'd say he's getting used to Long Island at this point.

It wasn't all good news for the Isles as Evgeni Nabokov left the game with a lower-body injury and New York wasted no time in putting him on injured reserve. Anders Nilsson has already been recalled, so Kevin Poulin could be a good add if you need help between the pipes. Poulin has been anything but consistent in his brief career, but the Islanders are rolling having won five-of-seven, so as long as he's not a complete disaster he should be serviceable. Keep in mind Nabokov missed 11 games earlier this year with a groin injury.

Kyle Okposo missed this one because his wife gave birth to their first child. If you panicked when you saw him out of the lineup, don't worry it's not injury related.

On most nights if you got 36 saves from Kari Lehtonen you would be an excited poolie, except he also gave up seven goals. Hard luck, but at least he didn't get injured. Small victories.

Rich Peverley had a pair of helpers to give him five points in his last four games. If your league isn't overly deep he might be available.

Alex Chiasson got over three minutes of power play time on Monday and saw more ice with the man advantage than Jamie Benn and Ray Whitney. Even though he isn't scoring points the way he did in the first month of the season, it appears Lindy Ruff hasn't lost confidence in him.

Low scoring affair between the Canadiens and Panthers where Carey Price made 26 stops to lead Montreal to a 2-1 win. If he's not on the Canadian Olympic team there's something wrong, and that's coming from a Leaf fan.

After not scoring for a month, Brian Gionta has goals in two straight now. His most productive days are behind him but he also has nine shots in those two contests. He could be worth a look if your roster is ravaged with injuries at this point in the year.

Andrei Markov doesn't look like the player we are used to seeing and perhaps all the injuries have caught up to him over the years. He's got just three points in his last 16 games and if you can sell someone on a deal because of the weight his name carries, it might be a shrewd move.

Aleksander Barkov picked up an assist against the Habs to extend his point streak to six games. He's had a decent rookie season considering the talent around him and you can't ask for much more at this point.

Jonathan Huberdeau has now gone pointless in seven of eight games. I haven't seen enough Panthers' games this year to tell if he's regressing from a solid 2012-13 or just the victim of a weak squad, but with minimal power play time on that roster it's going to be tough for him to produce.

The Flames picked up a 4-3 win over the Avalanche on Monday thanks to a late goal by Mike Cammalleri. He's been his steady self as far as points go but he's also an awful minus-20. I know the Flames don't have goaltending and aren't great defensively, but C'mon man.

Joe Colborne had a goal and an assist to give him just three points in his last 14. Colborne is already 23 and the chances of him becoming an impact player are quickly fading.

Mikael Backlund grabbed an assist after playing over 20 minutes. He's actually been receiving above average ice-time all season despite his mediocrity and could be a nice buy low candidate, but he won't continue to get these opportunities forever.

I feared Paul Stastny would be hindered by the loss of P.A. Parenteau to injury but it's been quite the opposite. Stastny had three points against the Flames and now has six points in four games since Parenteau went down.

Nathan MacKinnon scored twice more on Monday to further his impressive run. He now has back-to-back two-goal games and seven in his last seven.

Minnesota Wild forward Mikko Koivu will be sidelined for a month according to the team after having ankle surgery. The Wild are also without Zach Parise as well and are starting to get thin at forward quickly. Mikael Granlund may be someone you want to have a look at in the meantime as he has points in two straight games.

Roberto Luongo is reportedly dealing with another injury and although at the moment it looks like it isn't anything major, Eddie Lack with his .923 save percentage and two shutouts would be a wise grab until he gets back. What's more interesting is what could happen in goal for the Canadian Olympic team if Luongo indeed does miss some significant time. Thomas Drance looked at some options for theScore.

Carolina Hurricanes forward Eric Staal won't play Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres says head coach Kirk Muller. Adjust those lineups accordingly.

Great news if you are a Steven Stamkos owner. The Lightning forward skated for 30 minutes on Monday before the team's practice and appears to be experiencing no setbacks in his recovery. Martin St. Louis is no doubt anxious to see him return as he hasn't been able to record a point in four straight outings.

Switzerland announced their Olympic roster on Monday and there weren't many surprises. The squad has eight NHLers including the likes of Raphael Diaz, Jonas Hiller, Mark Streit, and Roman Josi.

The Czech Republic on the other hand raised a few eyebrows with their selections. Jiri Hudler, Radim Vrbata, and Tomas Fleischmann were left off in favor of Petr Nedved???? Nedved may or may not be playing in his 12^th Olympics.

Buffalo Sabres defenseman Tyler Myers has been suspended three games for his hit on Dainius Zubrus last Saturday. Right call?
