Fantasy Impact: The New York Rangers acquired Raphael Diaz from Vancouver for a fifth round pick.
The Rangers get: An intriguing young puck-mover on the blue line in Diaz.
The Canucks get: A late pick for a guy who never really got a kick at the can in Vancouver but was a pending UFA who had to be moved.
Fantasy Players Impacted: Diaz didn't really much of a chance to do anything in Vancouver but he was stuck behind a bunch of options in Alex Edler, Jason Garrison and even Kevin Bieksa and Yannick Weber.
Â
Diaz moving takes pressure off Yannick Weber for a slot as a fill in second unit power play guy.
Â
Diaz will likely be rental for the Rangers but he's got a chance to be an impact player on the power play as the Rangers do need puck movers on the back end. First and foremost, he bumps John Moore out of the regular lineup. He also puts some pressure on Ryan McDonagh. Don't expect him to jump ahead though.
Fantasy Players this helps, in order:
Raphael Diaz
Yannick Weber
Rangers second PP unit
Â
Fantasy Players thus hurts, in order:
John Moore (short term)
